<p>Position Information</p> <p>Position Number 008555 and 004417 Position Title Groundskeeper I - 008555 and 004417 Division Finance and Administration Department 173640 - Grounds Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Ability to follow oral and written instructions and possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications Job Description Summary</p> <p>The University of South Alabama's Grounds department is seeking to hire two Groundskeeper I's. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>These are the job duties required of the position.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Trims and fertilizes trees and shrubbery. </li><li>Mows and edges lawns. </li><li>Picks up trash and debris from grounds. </li><li>Waters lawns and shrubs as needed or directed. </li><li>Weeds and tends flower beds, gardens and lawns. </li><li>Collects, loads, and hauls off trash. </li><li>Digs holes and plants flowers, shrubs, and trees. </li><li>Installs weed fabric and mulch. </li><li>Stakes and guys trees. </li><li>Performs solid waste collection campus-wide to include pick up of bagged, boxed or loose materials and transport by truck to dumpsters located throughout campus for unloading. </li><li>Assists in the installation and repair of irrigation systems. </li><li>Operates power washer to clean sidewalks and other paved surfaces. </li><li>Safely applies chemicals to lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and paved surfaces as required. </li><li>May be responsible for performing groundskeeping and custodial duties in maintaining a small group of buildings and grounds. </li><li>May be required to operate a tractor or other groundskeeping equipment, as well as a motor vehicle to travel to and from work sites or transport materials. </li><li>Regular and prompt attendance. </li><li>Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. </li><li>Related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Posting Information</p> <p>Number of Vacancies 2 Position End Date (if temporary) Job Open Date 07/19/2025 Job Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants Working Days Monday - Friday Working Hours 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Job Location Main Campus Full-time or Part-Time Full Time Regular or Temporary Regular</p>
