<p>Position Summary</p> <p>As the OPA, you will be responsible for providing specialized program and administrative assistance to medical, supervisory, professional, administrative staff, and head of departments or programs. You will also be responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>Providing legal support and assistance to the Health Services Department, </li><li>Adhering to strict standards of confidentiality, </li><li>Maintenance of legal records, electronic medical records, various databases </li><li>Analyzing, assembling, or obtaining information for special projects and, </li><li>Ensuring compliance to the National Commission on Correctional Health Care Health Service Accreditation requirements. </li></ul> <p>You will maintain extensive contact with other operating units within the department and between departments.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>The starting pay is $22.31 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.</p> <p>Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 02/11.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.</p> <p>All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.</p> <p>Applicants must have the ability to type at least 45 net words per minute. This will be verified as part of the selection process. A practical computer exercise will also be part of the selection process.</p> <p>DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>At a minimum, you'll need the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) for office support tasks such as email correspondence, data entry, document creation, etc. </li><li>Experience providing customer service in a professional or business setting (e.g., providing instructions, answering questions, resolving customer complaints, etc.). </li><li>Experience performing office management or administrative duties (e.g., scheduling meetings, reviewing/filing documents, monitoring office supply inventory, etc.). </li><li>Experience performing medical file or health record management duties using an electronic health record system. </li></ul> <p>It would be great if you also have one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience handling confidential or sensitive information such as personal identifiable information (PII) or health records information. </li><li>Experience working in a secure environment such as a prison or correctional facility. </li><li>Experience with legal or psychiatric terminology. </li></ul> <p>Your letter of qualifications is limited to 1 page.
