<p>The Legal Assistant assists attorneys by performing legal work requiring basic knowledge of legal procedures, methods, and terminology by performing the following duties.</p> <p>Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:</p> <ul> <li>Assists attorney with management of routine case files. </li><li>Prepares non-complex pleadings, documents, correspondence, and affidavits. </li><li>Conducts basic research such as title searches, estate checks, asset location and skip tracing </li><li>Reviews files, mail, and standard legal documents to gather information and locate missing or incomplete records. </li><li>Contacts client, debtors, attorneys, and courts for further instructions, status updates, and additional information and documentation. </li><li>Negotiates payment arrangements and sale or return of assets/collateral for attorney/client approval. </li><li>Processes and follows-up on post judgment executions. </li><li>Confirms the service of subpoenas, notice of depositions, and other legal documents to witnesses and parties to action. </li><li>Files pleadings and documents with court clerk, as directed. </li><li>Monitors hearing docket and schedules attorney coverage, as needed. </li><li>Arranges for payment of court costs, local counsel fees, publication costs, etc. </li><li>Reviews, notates, and distributes mail and incoming work to appropriate parties. </li><li>Performs data entry to update notes on account. </li><li>May take and process debtor payments. </li><li>Maintains current knowledge of general legal procedures, deadlines and procedures for appropriate documents, office equipment, and software in general use in the legal community. </li><li>Complete all required training applicable to this position. </li><li>Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. </li><li>Other duties, as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED). </li><li>2 years relevant office experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. </li><li>Paralegal certificate a plus. </li><li>Commercial experience is a plus. </li><li>Multijurisdictional support is a plus. </li><li>Professional demeanor with clients and co-workers. </li><li>Organized and detail oriented to meet deadlines. </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office products with the ability to type 45 words </li></ul> <p>Compensation and Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Starting pay $20.24 or more based upon experience </li><li>Paid Time Off (PTO) - 16 days annually + 9 Company paid holidays </li><li>Hybrid after 6 months </li><li>Competitive benefits - Medical, Rx, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Parental Leave, Life and Disability Insurance and more. Close visual acuity is needed to read, analyze data, and view a computer terminal for extended periods.</p> <p>Work Environment:</p> <p>This position operates in a professional office environment. It is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will experience low to moderate noise levels and moderate interruptions.
