<p>The Associate Commissioners, Enforcement will oversee code compliance and enforcement efforts for the 1.1 million structures in the City. The Enforcement bureau has approximately 700 staff and includes units that operate 24/7. The Associate Commissioners will play a major role in the creation of legislation, enforcement policy, and rulemaking strategies; provide executive direction on enforcement matters related to inspections and safety; and coordinate on emergency response and enforcement with City, State, and Federal agencies including, the Fire Department (FDNY), Police Department (NYPD), Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and NYC Emergency Management (NYCEM).</p> <p>Under direction of the First Deputy Commissioner, Associate Commissioners, Enforcement will be responsible for code compliance and enforcement efforts for the 1.1 million structures in the City.</p> <p>Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee multiple divisions in the Enforcement bureau, which consists of multiple inspection and architectural/engineering divisions. </li><li>Work closely with the offices of Regulatory Affairs and Policy Development and General Counsel to create legislative, policy and rulemaking strategies to address any gaps or weaknesses in current enforcement strategies and establish new policies to obtain compliance from owners, contractors, and licensees. </li><li>Develop and implement enforcement-related rules and legislation and identify enforcement priorities. </li><li>Provide executive direction on enforcement matters related to inspections and safety. </li><li>Coordinate emergency response and enforcement with City, State, and Federal agencies, including the Fire Department (FDNY), Police Department (FDNY), Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and NYC Emergency Management (NYCEM). </li><li>Represent the Department in meetings with community boards, City Council, state and federal legislators, government agencies, and industry organizations. </li><li>Respond to emergency situations, including night and weekend emergency calls, if necessary. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and six years of satisfactory experience in inspections of construction, boilers, cranes and derricks, elevators, or plumbing; or architecture or engineering performing work in building design, building construction, or building equipment systems design. At least four years of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive, or consultative capacity or supervising personnel performing related activities; or</p> </li><li> <p>A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above.
