<p>School Counselor - Anticipated Interim Replacement JobID: 1036</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Support Staff/Guidance Counselor</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>3/31/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Rolling Hills Primary School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>09/01/2026</p> <p>Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>SCHOOL COUNSELOR - ANTICIPATED INTERIM REPLACEMENT</p> <p>9/1/2026 - 1/3/2027</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Building Assistant Principals, and other school administrators as needed</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Valid New Jersey Student Personnel Services Certification or School Counselor Certification or eligibility required. </li><li>Knowledge of testing specifications and testing materials, schedules, and interpreting data. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.</p> <ul> <li>Maintain cooperative relationships with others contacted in the course of work. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans especially as it pertains to MTSS/I&RS and 504 plans.</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. </li><li>Works effectively with students, families, staff, and community. </li><li>Facilitate and/or co-facilitate group counseling. </li><li>Develop and facilitate one daily classroom lesson. </li></ul> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>Prioritize the overall wellness of our students and provide equitable opportunities to support the growth and development of all students. We will optimize our resources so that students will reach their maximum potential in a safe, engaging, inclusive, challenging, and nurturing environment.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assists students in evaluating their aptitudes and abilities through the use of teacher comments, interpretation of individual standardized test scores and other pertinent data and then work with students in evolving educational and career plans in terms of such evaluation. Consult and reference student records for advisement and appraisal for academic planning. </li><li>Member of MTSS/I&RS/RTI. </li><li>Collaborate with department directors/supervisors when enrolling transfer students. Provide orientation and information relative to school procedures, curriculum, and extracurricular opportunities. </li><li>To act as the liaison between the school and community agencies in working on student problems. </li><li>Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with school counseling service. </li><li>Works closely with teachers, administrators and other professional staff members, providing information and assistance where needed for the ultimate benefit of students. </li><li>Maintains a close relationship with the child study team following directives and recommendations as needed. </li><li>Works closely with and involves parents in planning students' career plans, and assists in the resolution of school-related problems. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. </li><li>Assists in the organization and administration of standardized test programs. </li><li>Researches educational and career opportunities, and coordinates with teachers, college and university personnel, resource specialists, and business and community organizations to provide information and make recommendations. </li><li>Serves as a ready resource to students to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity. Makes effective use of community and staff resources and coordinates services with other staff in order to increase the benefits for students. Provides resources for summer work and/or enrollment in summer school programs to make up noted deficiencies. </li><li>Maintains a professional office environment, appropriate relationships with students, and positive relationships with the building administration, parents, and other staff. </li><li>Assists in the evaluation of current curriculum offerings and in the planning, selection, and implementation of new course offerings. </li><li>Works to prevent students from dropping out of school and assist those who find alternative educational programs and/or employment. </li><li>Provides for a transition from middle school to high school, which includes orientation programs for students and parents. </li><li>Maintains professional competence through in-service education and other professional development activities. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and maintaining professional relationships with members of institutions of higher education and stakeholders in the community. </li><li>Provides information and prepares recommendations to colleges for admissions and scholarships, as well as to potential employers and other agencies. </li><li>Participates in follow-up studies of former students to improve services and evaluate the effectiveness of the educational program being offered at the school. </li><li>Coordinate and conduct on-campus workshops that contribute to the equitable delivery of the VTHS counseling program to all students and stakeholders. </li><li>Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned or required by state law and board policies. </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <p>Salary and work year to be determined as mutually agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.</p> <p>$150 per day for the first 19 days, followed by a per diem rate of $286.65 to $344.95 per day from day 20 onwards, commensurate with experience and qualifications.</p>
