The Assistant Manager of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting will be responsible for the documentation of the Company's position on technical accounting matters. The Assistant Manager will also assist in the preparation of the Company's quarterly and annual SEC filings on Forms 10-Q and 10-K.</p> <p>Primary Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Research technical accounting issues, including new accounting guidance, and assess and document how they will impact Vornado's accounting and financial reporting </li><li>Analyze non-recurring transactions and identify accounting implications. Document findings, applying appropriate accounting guidance and literature, and working with external auditors to draw reasonable and acceptable conclusions </li><li>Perform US GAAP research and benchmarking against industry peers and provide recommendations </li><li>Assist with the preparation and filing of the Company's 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks (including earnings releases and supplemental investor reports), and other ad-hoc reports </li><li>Assist with the preparation of the SEC and GAAP checklists, XBRL, and support tie-outs related to quarterly filings </li><li>Review certain corporate accounting workpapers and journal entries </li><li>Provide insight and support for process improvement and automation opportunities </li><li>Prepare, review, and/or present ad-hoc projects for senior management as necessary </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates strong technical accounting capabilities with strong knowledge of US GAAP </li><li>Analytically sharp with the ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience documenting technical accounting assessments </li><li>Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (knowledge of advanced lookup functions and Power Query a plus) </li><li>Experience in Workiva Wdesk a plus </li><li>Energetic and highly motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with team members and members of other departments (e.g., Property Accounting, Tax, IT, FP&A) </li><li>Excellent organization skills and attention to detail a must </li></ul> <p>Education/Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree (or above) in accounting; CPA required </li><li>4+ years of progressive accounting experience (experience serving public clients at a national or Big 4 firm a plus) </li></ul> <p>The starting base salary for this New Jersey based position is expected to be between $110,000 to $125,000 annually.
