This position involves direct supervision of support staff, planning for professional development, policy oversight, specialized program management, and direct support for complex student meetings and evaluations. The Coordinator ensures high-quality instruction and support for all students receiving special education services.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>In coordination with the Director of Pupil & Staff Support Services, set high expectations and goals for the PSSS department </li><li>Assist the Director of Pupil & Staff Support Services to coordinate and monitor the implementation of all Special Education Programs, including recruitment, assignment, and evaluation of staff members </li><li>Provide input to the Director of Pupil & Staff Support Services during budget preparation for the Pupil Services department </li><li>Assist the Director of Pupil & Staff Support Services by coordinating the school district's professional development activities </li><li>Orient new staff regarding special education programs and systems </li><li>Oversee the Extended School Year (ESY) program </li><li>Serve as the District Administrator for Out of District students who have IEP or 504 plans and attend Out of District PPT meetings </li><li>Lead district Attendance and Assistive Technology teams and initiatives </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in special education or a related field </li><li>092 Certification required </li><li>Extensive knowledge of federal and state special education laws, regulations (e.g., IDEA, Section 504), and best practices </li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and mentor staff </li><li>Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills </li><li>Proficient knowledge of CT-SEDS </li></ul> <p>Application Procedure:Apply Online: Coventry Online Application</p> <p>Please submit the following items:</p> <ul> <li>Completed application </li><li>Cover Letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>Three recent letters of reference </li><li>Copies of certifications held </li></ul> <p>Coventry Public Schools aims to increase the diversity of our staff as part of our commitment to provide outstanding services to all students, staff, and the community.
