No If Temporary, enter End Date: Position Summary</p> <p>The Associate Director of Campus Recreation - Facilities and Aquatics will oversee the management and risk management of all recreational and social spaces in the award-winning 150,000 sq. ft. Student Life Center as well as aquatics management in the Park Center Holsten Pool. This position occurs primarily during business hours, with some coverage evenings and weekends. Main responsibilities include facility operation and management, supervision of student employees, facility set-up and scheduling for special events, updating and implementing emergency action plans for emergency situations and training of all staff and lifeguard training for aquatic staff. Experience Cortland dives deep into the region's offerings </li></ul> <p>Major Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with the director of campus recreation to schedule, oversee and maintain all recreational and social spaces and equipment in the Student Life Center </li><li>Collaborate with the Physical Education Department and Office of Athletics to oversee the management of pool operations including compliance, lifeguard scheduling and training, budgeting, and event coverage </li><li>Oversee and supervise all open recreation staff and enforce policies and procedures relating to facility operation while on duty </li><li>Ensure appropriate staffing levels for all operating hours and events </li><li>Oversee the swim lesson program, including recruitment of clients, instructor assignments, supervision and evaluation of lessons </li><li>Execute the implementation, review, and recommendations related to facility policies and procedures including facility access, emergency action plans (EAP), and standard operating procedures. </li><li>Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Student Life Center's electronic facility management and identification program (Fusion) </li><li>Lead the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluation of all student employees in the Open Recreation program including Building Managers, Lifeguards, and Facility Attendants </li><li>Oversee the operation of equipment checkout service including equipment management, locker rental service, and towel/laundry service </li><li>Implement all management of cash/check/credit card payments and create deposits for the Student Life Center </li><li>Review and execute the implementation of a risk management program and training for the Student Life Center </li><li>Maintain accurate documentation of all certifications and trainings for all Open Recreation & Lifeguard staff </li><li>Offer CPR/AED/First Aid certification and re-certification classes, and provide in-service training sessions for aquatic staff and building attendants </li><li>Supervise a Coordinator of Facilities & Aquatics for the Student Life Center, a Coordinator of Aquatics Management for the Park Center, and one graduate assistant, which includes training, assessment, evaluation, and providing guidance </li></ul> <p>Functional and Supervisory Relationships</p> <p>This individual will report directly to the Director of Campus Recreation and will have supervisory responsibility for two (2) coordinators, one (1) graduate student and undergraduate student workers within the Open Recreation and Lifeguarding programs. This individual will also maintain collaborative working relationships with faculty and staff within the Student Life Center, Physical Education Department, Office of Athletics, and across the campus community.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sport Management or related field </li><li>CPR/First Aid/AED certification or willingness to obtain this certification within 3 months of the start of employment </li><li>Cortland County approved Lifeguard certification from one of the following agencies: American Red Cross, American Lifeguard Association, Boy Scouts of America, Breezy Point Cooperative, Inc., Cattaraugus County EMS, Hamptons Consortium, Ellis and Associates Inc International Lifeguard Training Program, Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums, New York City Department of Parks, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Royal Life Saving Society Canada, Starfish Aquatics Institute, Inc., Suffolk County Department of Parks, Town of Babylon, Town of Brookhaven, Town of East Hampton, Town of Islip, Town of Southampton, Village of Ocean Beach, or the YMCA or willingness to obtain this certification within 3 months of the start of employment </li><li>CPR/First Aid/AED instructor certification or willingness to obtain this certification within 3 months of the start of employment </li><li>Lifeguard Instructor certification or willingness to obtain this certification within 3 months of the start of employment </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Prior experience supervising student staff </li><li>Prior work experience in a collegiate recreation program and/or facility management and/or aquatics background </li><li>Water Safety Instructor certification </li><li>Active membership and volunteerism in NIRSA: Leaders of Collegiate Recreation </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of industry standards relating to facility operations and management, including those related to aquatic facilities </li><li>Ability to make incident/medical decisions according to regulations and compliance standards and complete proper documentation during emergencies.
