This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a specialized field within engine</p> <p>design and operations. Ground Test Division designs, manufactures and</p> <p>services test equipment to support development and aftermarket engine programs for all</p> <p>three major engine manufacturers.</p> <p>As a Ground Test Repair Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the complete project</p> <p>lifecycle for repairs of ground test equipment: a. decomposing customer requirements; b.</p> <p>quoting; c. evaluating damage; d. designing / developing repair process; e. work instruction</p> <p>development; f. oversight of repair process execution (onsite at PWAA and at customer</p> <p>sites both domestic and international). You will be responsible for evaluating damage</p> <p>from normal operations and developing repairs to restore the assembly or components to</p> <p>original requirements.</p> <p>What You Will Do</p> <ul> <li>Evaluate damage to ground test equipment during normal use and develop repairs </li></ul> <p>to restore the parts to original / acceptable conditions.</p> <ul> <li>Engage with customers in properly scoping / inspecting damage conditions prior to </li></ul> <p>quoting / part arrival on site.</p> <ul> <li>Develop project schedule / cost to support quoting all repair jobs. </li><li>Communicate and make technical presentations to internal and external </li></ul> <p>customers.</p> <ul> <li>Develop repairs, work instructions, identify materials to support all repair jobs, </li></ul> <p>including engagement with production personnel.</p> <ul> <li>Develop standard repair processes to simplify repair execution. </li><li>Support production personnel in the performance of the repairs in our facility and at </li></ul> <p>customer locations.</p> <ul> <li>Travel to support repair work. Travel up to 50% may be required depending on the </li></ul> <p>repair work.</p> <ul> <li>Review and disposition nonconforming material to technical requirements. </li><li>Contribute to Cost of Poor-Quality efforts, challenge existing processes, and drive </li></ul> <p>improvements.</p> <ul> <li>Ensure compliance with established engineering methodologies </li><li>Use sound engineering judgment, technical expertise, and data analysis to make </li></ul> <p>decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems.</p> <ul> <li>Support program management by developing an engineering project plan, </li></ul> <p>establishing work packages, milestones, objectives.</p> <ul> <li>Mentor junior designers. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications You Must Have</p> <ul> <li>A Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) University Degree or </li></ul> <p>equivalent experience and minimum 15 years prior relevant experience</p> <ul> <li>A Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) Advanced Degree in a </li></ul> <p>related field and minimum 10 years experience</p> <ul> <li>Effective problem identification and solution skills </li><li>Strong project ownership, execution, and proactive mentalities </li><li>10 years experience with composite manufacturing processes </li><li>Prior experience with fiber-reinforced polymer composites, specifically: </li></ul> <p>fiberglass, aramid, and/or carbon prepreg and wet layup (especially epoxy</p> <p>resin systems)</p> <ul> <li>Comprehensive experience in advanced Composite and Bonded Structures </li></ul> <p>(ie. Organic/Polymer Matrix Composites, Fiber Reinforcement,</p> <p>Manufacturing methods, Adhesives, Surface Preparation, etc.)</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Composites and Bonded Structures applications for gas </li></ul> <p>turbines and/or other similar applications.</p> <ul> <li>Experience with mechanical design (machining, joints, fasteners, welding) in </li></ul> <p>relevant industry positions (aerospace, defense, automotive or similar)</p> <ul> <li>Experience with designing tooling to support repairs / production processes such as </li></ul> <p>locating fixtures or grinding depth aids.</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques, such as ultrasonic </li></ul> <p>testing, eddy current, FPI, camera optics, X-ray and others used in aerospace.</p> <ul> <li>Experience with GD&T to include determining tolerance requirements. </li><li>Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
