<p>ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES</p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Ensures accuracy and efficiency when processing consent forms. Enters/updates patient demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record. Records and attaches required information to consent forms. Schedules appointments. Scans all required documents into appropriate patient record. </li><li>Responsible for acquiring patient financial information and collecting payment. Accurately performs income determination and completes applicable forms. Verifies insurance eligibility. Completes, submits, and documents electronic and handwritten insurance prior authorizations. Accountable for cash drawer and daily deposit accuracy. Attends Dental Billing meetings on behalf of the Mobile Dental Manager and reports necessary changes or interventions to be made. Is responsible for directly communicating with the Dental Billing Coordinator to resolve billing issues. </li><li>Provides professional, detailed verbal and written communication to patients, guardians, and coworkers. Answers telephones; assists caller by answering diverse questions, including account inquiries. Submits and tracks referrals. Provides training to new clerical team members and offers frequent updates and suggests improvements to the clerical and clinical workflows during meetings. </li><li>Supports the Mobile Dental Manager with the training of newly hired Mobile Dental support personnel; including remediation training as needed. Participates in a team-based approach. </li><li>Conducts interactive and thorough classroom, and group, oral health presentations, focusing on educating students and encouraging program participation. </li><li>Assists with scheduling of schools, presentations, and consent form pick-ups as directed by the Mobile Dental Manager. Contacts school administrators to confirm dental bus visits and presentations. Prepares required materials for presentations and consent form drop-offs; including classroom incentives and school administrative marketing items. Accountable for collecting, organizing, and tracking consent forms. Maintains detailed logs. </li><li>Assists with the clinical workflow, including chairside assisting during oral exams, taking and recording vitals, and operatory and instrument sterilization. Takes diagnostic quality digital and conventional radiographs as directed by Staff Dentist. Sets-up trays and prepares patient for the exam. Responsible for accuracy, clarity, and proper completion of dental charting and of all EHR requirements. Follows Dental Infection Control Program and other regulatory policies and procedures. Assists with clerical workflow, within the dental bus, during high-volume times or in the absence of the Dental Clerk/Driver. </li><li>Attends and participates in community events to promote Smiles Are Everywhere Mobile Dental Program. Thoroughly communicates with patients, coworkers, providers, and leadership staff. </li><li>Maintains an organized work environment. </li><li>Works at alternate sites, as requested by the Mobile Dental Manager. </li><li>Participates in off-site public relations activities and community events. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED JOB SPECIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Licensure: State of Michigan Radiology Certification within 60 days of employment. </li><li>Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of previous clerical experience in a health-related field. Experience working with children and the public. </li><li>Skills: Dental terminology and dental insurance knowledge. Organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multitask. Highly motivated with ability to work in fast-paced environment. Able to prioritize tasks and efficiently follow-up to complete tasks. Strategic thinking. Self-motivated and reliable. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Strategic thinking. Able to solve complex problems and make sound decisions. Must be able to make recommendations and apply solutions that effectively resolve problems. Must have an ability to coach and be coached by others while being objective through complex situations. Courteous telephone etiquette. Efficient reading, writing, typing, computer, and filing skills. Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information. Public speaking. Ability to communicate effectively with, and relate to, a diverse population in a professional and courteous manner including patients, administrators, and coworkers. Takes initiative in daily responsibilities. Flexible and able to function as a team member. Adept at interacting with children and families. </li><li>Physical Effort: Must be able to do a combination of sitting, standing and walking for an entire workday. Must be able to work within confined spaces subject to swaying and other motions both while in transit and at rest. Must be able to lift, push, and or pull up to twenty-five (25) lbs. on occasion. </li><li>Hours of Work: Full-time, flexible and varied. Occasional evening and weekend hours required. Consistent attendance is required. Telecommuting is not available for this position. </li><li>Travel: Extensive travel using, or riding in, a GLBHC vehicle or personal vehicle. Reimbursement for expenses consistent with GLBHC policy. Must have proof of liability and property damage insurance coverage to receive mileage reimbursement. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED JOB SPECIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Education: Associate degree in healthcare field preferred.
