Join an organization where your work contributes to a greater purpose.</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>You are responsible for optimizing database and storage network traffic across hybrid environments (cloud and on-prem). This role focuses on creating repeatable connectivity patterns and best practices that align with the current infrastructure, accelerate cloud migration, and further optimize on-prem-to-cloud connectivity, including introducing new patterns for specialized use cases.</p> <p>Our Impact:</p> <p>We improve the performance, reliability, and operational simplicity of critical database and storage connectivity by standardizing proven network designs and continuously optimizing hybrid traffic paths. This reduces design variance across teams, increases resiliency, and accelerates delivery and migration outcomes.</p> <p>Your Impact:</p> <ul> <li>Optimize DB/storage traffic performance and resiliency across on-prem and AWS (latency, throughput, loss), including routing, segmentation, and QoS where applicable. </li><li>Standardize and automate hybrid connectivity patterns using IaC and scripting to accelerate delivery and reduce operational risk. </li><li>Enable migration waves by removing network blockers, defining "migration-ready" baselines, and improving observability and troubleshooting readiness. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>12-15+ years of experience designing, operating, and optimizing on-prem enterprise networks supporting database and storage traffic. </li><li>5-10 years of hands-on AWS networking experience in production environments, including hybrid connectivity between on-prem and AWS. </li><li>Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) to define, deploy, and standardize network/connectivity patterns. </li><li>Hands-on scripting and coding ability to automate validation, monitoring, and operational workflows (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell). </li><li>Proven expertise in routing/path selection, failover behavior, MTU, segmentation, and traffic engineering where applicable for DB/storage workloads. </li><li>Experience building observability/monitoring and operational playbooks for network performance and incident response. </li><li>Metrics-driven approach to continuous improvement (e.g., latency, packet loss, throughput, change success rate). </li></ul> <p>Keys to Success in this Role:</p> <ul> <li>Codify standards into reusable IaC modules/templates and automated validation checks to reduce variance and speed delivery. </li><li>Stay hands-on: test, troubleshoot, and implement improvements directly, including building lightweight tooling where needed. </li><li>Drive measurable outcomes with clear baselines, metrics, and regression prevention practices. </li><li>Partner effectively across cloud, platform, storage, and application teams to unblock migrations and ensure adoption of reference designs. </li></ul> <p>Current Freddie Mac employees please apply through the internal career site.</p> <p>We consider all applicants for all positions without regard to gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, physical and mental disability, pregnancy, ethnicity, genetic information or any other protected categories under applicable federal, state or local laws. Information on these benefit programs is available on our Careers site.</p> <p>This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $161,000 - $241,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.</p>
