Education, Licenses and Certifications</p> <p>Minimum Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent.</p> <p>Licenses and/or Certificates:</p> <ul> <li>Certificate of Completion from a State of Florida EMS/HRS certified training center or equivalent as approved by EMS/HRS. </li><li>Current certification by the State of Florida as a Paramedic. </li><li>Successful completion and maintenance of an American Heart Association BLS card. </li><li>Successful completion and maintenance of an American Heart Association ACLS card. </li><li>E.V.O.C. certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment. </li><li>Possession of a State of Florida driver's license (Class E minimum). </li><li>Successful completion of Fire Academy and Florida State certification as a FFII may be required after hire at discretion of the Fire Chief. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of advanced emergency medical practices, procedures, techniques, and protocols in accordance with the United States Department of Transportation advanced training program. </li><li>Knowledge of all standards as set forth by the State of Florida in Florida Statutes, Chapter 401 and Florida Administrative Code 64J-1 relative to function. </li><li>Knowledge and ability to successfully pass a comprehensive orientation and testing process approved by the Medical Director. </li><li>Mechanical Aptitude and ability to operate relatively complex equipment. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public. </li><li>Ability to successfully pass physical agility tests and to frequently lift more than 50 pounds. </li><li>Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Ability to perform prolonged and difficult work under adverse conditions. </li><li>Ability to learn a wide variety of duties and methods within a reasonable training period. Willingness to learn new methods and techniques. </li><li>Must be a non-smoking person if hired on or after October 1, 1988. </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Working Conditions: Work is exposed to outdoor weather conditions or irate customers, extreme noise, odors, heights, and/or dust.</p> <p>Risk/Safety Conditions: The position requires exposure to risk related to physical and/or mental health and safety (e.g., exposure to environmentally hazardous material, heavy equipment, assault and battery, communicable disease, etc.).</p> <p>Physical Activities: Stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception, climbing.</p> <p>DISCLAIMER:The information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
