In this high-level management role, you'll supervise 35-40 staff members and oversee daily activities for work crews handling routine maintenance, emergency response, and special projects.</p> <p>You'll manage about an $18 million annual budget, coordinate equipment and resources, ensure safety, and work closely with engineering teams and core business services on staffing, budgeting, training, and operational planning. Reporting directly to the Stormwater Director, your leadership will directly influence the efficiency, safety, and success of critical stormwater operations.</p> <p>The pay starts between $95,000.00 - $112,000.00/ annually (based on experience), and benefits begin within 60 days of hire.</p> <p>Apply today and help shape the future of stormwater operations in Sarasota County.</p> <p>Up to $3,000 relocation is available for those moving 50+ miles to join the premier community where people choose to live, work, and play!</p> <p>About the Position</p> <p>Make an Impact Leading Stormwater Operations:</p> <p>Provide leadership and oversight for stormwater operations, including daily functions and emergency response</p> <p>Supervise and coordinate activities of field crews and supervisory staff</p> <p>Plan, schedule, and manage routine maintenance and operational activities</p> <p>Coordinate staffing and deploy personnel and equipment for scheduled and emergency work</p> <p>Monitor workload distribution, crew assignments, and equipment utilization</p> <p>Ensure compliance with county, state, and OSHA regulations, including safety procedures and equipment use</p> <p>Deliver excellent customer service and maintain strong relationships with residents, agencies, and internal departments</p> <p>Collaborate with internal teams, manage interlocal agreements, and coordinate external vendors and resources</p> <p>Develop long-range maintenance plans and support stormwater initiatives in partnership with engineering teams</p> <p>Monitor, evaluate, and improve operational efficiency, recommending adjustments as needed</p> <p>Prepare and manage operating budgets, expenditures, business plans, and resource allocation</p> <p>Assess staffing needs, support hiring processes, and conduct performance evaluations and disciplinary actions</p> <p>Manage materials, supplies, and inventory to support operations</p> <p>Develop and deliver training programs for staff</p> <p>Standard Work Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.</p> <p>About You</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree in construction, engineering , or related field AND six (6) years of progressively responsible related experience</p> <ul> <li>OR- Master's Degree in construction, engineering , or related field AND four (4) or more years of related experience </li><li>OR- May consider substituting years of experience for the four (4) year degree </li><li>AND- Four (4) or more years of supervisory/management experience </li></ul> <p>Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Knowledge of current principles and practices relating to utility operations and maintenance</p> <p>Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local policies and regulations related to wastewater and stormwater management</p> <p>Knowledge of the health and safety hazards and precautions associated with the work performed in the section</p> <p>Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook</p> <p>Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years</p> <p>About Everything Else</p> <p>Starting Pay Range: $95,000.00 - $112,000.00/ annually, based on your experience</p> <p>Our interview process could include phone interview(s), Microsoft Teams video interview(s), and/or in-person interview(s).</p>
