Description</p> <p>Role: This position is responsible for the security and safety of the campus including employees, students and visitors as well as physical assets and properties. Responsible for risk management, loss prevention, and a campus free from criminal incidents.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ensures the security and safety of the campus during 1st shift. Monitors all campus surveillance equipment and campus alarms, both fire and intrusion. Maintains equipment and alarms in good working order. </li><li>Primary responder during 1st shift for all emergencies. Responsible for initiating messages using the emergency notification service, or contacting the proper person to do so, when time allows. </li><li>Assists in recommending, creating and implementing campus safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety and security issues and recommends and implements solutions. </li><li>Serves as the primary contact for the St. Louis location first aid during 1st shift. </li><li>Maintains 1st shift parking permits, campus keys, and related systems. Handles traffic and parking situations. </li><li>Manages the 1st shift security officer team in the performance of their duties. Ensures sufficient security coverage on all shifts. Assists with hiring, training and supervising all security officers. Takes corrective action as needed. </li><li>Ensures friendly customer service by the 1st shift security staff to employees, students and guests visiting the campus in providing directions and information. Coaches security officers on customer service techniques as well as appropriate methods to deal with difficult people. </li><li>Follows up on 1st shift security and safety incidents that have occurred, reviews sequence of events to determine whether proper action was taken and coaches security officers on any improvement in actions to be taken in the case of future incidents. </li><li>Performs administrative duties and general office functions to ensure the department runs smoothly. </li><li>Occupies a post/watch duty on 1st shift and serves as the local law enforcement liaison. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Required: Associate degree in public safety, criminal justice, homeland security, emergency management, fire service or related discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
