This will include strategy development, case management, and coordination with external legal counsel and be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks that could impact the company's operations, reputation, or financial performance. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of corporate law, employment law, contract law and civil procedure, as well as developing and implementing risk management strategies to ensure that risk-related activities align with the company's goals and regulatory requirements. Job duties include collaborating with all participating departments including HR, E.H.R, Technology, and the Revenue Cycle Manager. Ensure that all communications and deliverables are planned and implemented within established timeframes. Coordinate civil procedure activities and risk management activities with relevant departments / staff.</p> <p>Responsible for timely response to grievances from health plans and / or IPAs, and follow up with patients, staff, providers, impacted by grievances.</p> <p>WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?</p> <p>Administrative Tasks and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Litigation Management: Oversee all aspects of corporate litigation, including case strategy, legal research, discovery, and assist in settlement negotiations. </li><li>Grievance Management: Track, investigate, and respond timely to grievances received from health plans / IPAs. Complete case summaries and perform data analysis to identify risk areas and trends. Report on grievance data and trends to senior leadership. </li><li>Strategic Planning: Work with corporate / outside counsel to develop and implement litigation strategies that align with the company's goals and risk tolerance. </li><li>External Counsel Coordination: Manage relationships with external law firms, ensuring effective communication and efficient handling of cases. </li><li>Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential legal risks and develop mitigation strategies while prioritizing risks across the organization, including financial, operational, strategic, and compliance risks. </li><li>Budget Management: Develop and manage litigation budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effective legal practices. </li><li>Risk Assessment: Identify, assess, and prioritize risks across the organization, including financial, operational, strategic, and compliance risks. </li><li>Risk Management Strategy: Develop and implement risk management strategies and frameworks to mitigate identified risks and manage potential impacts. </li><li>Monitoring and Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on litigation status, risks, and outcomes to senior management. Continuously monitor risk factors and effectiveness of risk management strategies. </li><li>Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards; implement controls to manage regulatory risks. Ensure that all litigation activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. </li><li>Crisis Management: Work with the Safety Manager and Information Technology Director to develop and maintain crisis management and business continuity plans to address and recover from unforeseen events or disruptions. </li><li>Training and Awareness: Educate and train employees on risk management policies and procedures to promote a culture of risk awareness. </li><li>Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage risks associated with third-party vendors and partners. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Strong investigative skills and ability to see issues as part of an overall system and recommend changes to minimize risk and improve processes. </li><li>Meticulous attention to detail and quality of work product </li><li>Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; professional, friendly and approachable demeanor </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Excellent organizational and time management skills </li><li>Adept at gathering and analyzing information </li><li>Demonstrated resourcefulness, initiative, and proactive approach to identify potential issues and support solutions to improve the products and services of the Compliance department. </li><li>Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel </li><li>Familiarity with Google suite including Gmail, hangouts/chat, google drive collaboration tool, etc. required, proficiency preferred. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with a diverse work group of individuals at all organizational levels; multi-cultural sensitivity </li><li>Ability to add value through creative input and forward-thinking </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks and juggle competing deadlines effectively, remaining calm under pressure </li><li>Skills and experience in facilitating groups and group activities, using adult learning principles. </li><li>Enthusiastic individual passionate about working on a high-performing team </li></ul> <p>Experience & Education</p> <ul> <li>Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school required. Certified Risk Manager (CRM) preferred. </li><li>Minimum 2 years comparable experience in corporate litigation, insurance defense, or risk management. </li><li>Experience with the Epic EHR (specifically OCHIN Epic preferred) </li><li>Knowledge of Medicare, state, Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Office of Civil Rights requirements, and other applicable state and federal regulations required </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must have a current and valid California driver's license and the ability to provide proof of personal auto insurance on the vehicle driven during working hours. </li><li>If selected for an employment opportunity with Elica Health Centers, external hires must provide proof of immunizations (Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella & Tetanus), tuberculosis clearance, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination status* prior to their scheduled start date.
