Position:</p> <ul> <li>Special Education Teacher- Transitional Resource </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Implement elementary curriculum through a combination of whole group, small group, and individualized instruction, and including technology-aided and technology-mediated instruction. </li><li>Determine individual learning needs of each student through data analysis from various formal and informal assessments and including technology-based assessment instruments. </li><li>Plan and implement lessons and projects based on objectives tied to the state and federal learning standards adopted by the district and communicate those objectives to students daily in written and oral form. </li><li>Create an optimal learning environment for students, conducive to learning and the accomplishment of various student learning objectives. </li><li>Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests, including through the use of provided instructional technology tools and technology-mediated instruction. </li><li>Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. </li><li>Monitor and evaluate student progress and record student outcomes. </li><li>Employees may be requested to attend professional development opportunities during the regular work year. </li><li>Assess then summarize student performance levels and other information on Individualized Educational Plan documents </li><li>Plan and actively participate in all aspects of Special Education TEAM meetings and documentation </li><li>Select work samples then create MCAS Alternate portfolios, depending on student IEP requirements </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree. </li><li>Valid teaching license from the Mass. Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8). </li><li>Demonstrated skills in working with students with various ability levels. </li><li>Experience with various assessments for measuring and monitoring reading and mathematics achievement progress. </li><li>Experience using computer/technology in classroom. </li><li>SEI Endorsement </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment:</p> <ul> <li>Reports to: School Principal </li><li>Rate: In accordance with the Unit A contract found here </li></ul> <p>The New Bedford Public Schools do not discriminate on account of age, race, color, sex, gender identity, gender expression, ancestry, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, military status, genetics, or disability that does not prohibit performance of essential job functions in employment for potential employees.
