This position will focus on five- to nine- figure gifts including planned gifts and strategic gifts including endowments.</p> <p>Some responsibilities include:</p> <p>In collaboration with the VP of Philanthropy, design, develop, and execute a planned giving program that deepens and expands the existing Legacy Society donor base, with a special focus on growing high-end individual major and estate gifts.</p> <p>Build strong working relationships with ChristianaCare's leadership, physicians and other caregivers and provide strategic leadership regarding fundraising opportunities and prospects.</p> <p>Conduct effective prospect management: Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, negotiate, and steward a portfolio of major and planned gift prospects who the capacity to give $10,000 or more, with a focus on matching the prospects' philanthropic interests with institutional needs and opportunities. Work closely with ChristianaCare leadership and fundraisers across ChristianaCare to develop and manage engagement, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for high-capacity prospective donors.</p> <p>The Director of Major Gifts, as a member of the ChristianaCare Philanthropy team, will personally engage potential donors in their portfolio, and collaboratively partner with colleagues on strategies, including by serving as a former or informal member of a team in which another fundraiser is driving the strategy.</p> <p>Stays abreast of content that relates to strategic planning and programmatic priorities across ChristianaCare, particularly those of interest to the prospects in the major and planned gifts portfolio.</p> <p>Plans, staffs, and briefs ChristianaCare leaders for substantive, strategic prospect/donor visits and events.</p> <p>Collaborates with colleagues to develop events, communications, and stewardship - for the cultivation, solicitations and stewardship needed to advance major and planned gifts.</p> <p>The full job specification will be provided during the recruiting process.</p> <p>Education and experience requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred </li><li>CFRE or CAP certifications preferred </li><li>A minimum of five to seven years of experience as a seasoned fundraising professional with health care experience, capital campaign experience and a successful track record of developing strategies for solicitations of major, leadership and principal gifts ($1M or more). </li><li>Knowledge on Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania philanthropy sources is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Post End Date</p> <p>May 19, 2025</p> <p>EEO Posting Statement</p> <p>Christiana Care Health System is an equal opportunity employer, firmly committed to prohibiting discrimination, whose staff is reflective of its community, and considers qualified applicants for open positions without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity or expression, age, veteran status, disability, pregnancy, citizenship status, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law.</p>
