<p>Job Summary/Overall Objectives</p> <p>The accountant performs clerical and financial record keeping functions encompassing all aspects of accounting in accordance with GAAP.</p> <p>Schedule</p> <p>Monday through Friday, daylight hours, working hybrid (a mix of working from home and on-site at the East Butler or Greensburg Finance Office)</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform Treasury functions and support:</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare bank deposits for Independence Health entities as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Balance petty cash daily.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for all safe related activity.</p> </li><li> <p>Verify and record dietary cash.</p> </li><li> <p>Verify and record miscellaneous cash postings.</p> </li><li> <p>Update daily cash books with all bank receipts and accounts payable liabilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Balance daily patient accounting cash.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate with patient accounting to resolve issues and unreconciled cash.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform Accounting functions and support:</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and coordinate documents required to maintain monthly journal entries as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain documents required to support journal entries.</p> </li><li> <p>Determine and assign correct general ledger account numbers.</p> </li><li> <p>Input and post entries to proper accounting period in a timely manner to meet deadlines determined by Corporate Controller.</p> </li><li> <p>Create and maintain Accounting Units and Accounts providing detail analysis needed for financial statement preparation.</p> </li><li> <p>Add to Change Control any relevant changes to Financial Systems for Department Structure and Chart of Accounts.</p> </li><li> <p>Update Infor for any changes to Financial Systems for Department Structure and Chart of Accounts.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend Weekly Change Control and Infor meetings for relevant updates.</p> </li><li> <p>Clerical functions and support.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in audit process.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in accounts payable processing.</p> </li><li> <p>Communication to customers.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]</p> <p>Required Qualifications/Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Healthcare Management or related field. </li><li>One (1) to three (3) years' experience in Accounting, Finance, Business or Healthcare Management. </li><li>Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of position function. </li><li>Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience. </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power Point. </li><li>Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications/Experience</p> <ul> <li>Experience in Healthcare setting. </li></ul> <p>License, Certification & Clearances</p> <ul> <li>Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system </li></ul> <p>Position Type/Expected Hours of Work</p> <ul> <li>Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.). </li><li>Travel may be expected locally between System locations. </li></ul> <p>Equal Employment Opportunity</p> <p>Independence Health and its affiliated companies are Equal Opportunity Employers.
