Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications; University System of Maryland benefits package included.</p> <p>The Department offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science with an option of a network concentration, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, and Secure Computing and Information Insurance. Our new minor in interdisciplinary Data Science started in the Fall of 2022. These four undergraduate programs have approximately 320 majors. An accelerated, applied graduate program - M.S. in Applied Computer Science with an option of a database concentration - has more than 70 majors.</p> <p>The Department is dynamic and fluid with a passion for Computer Science Education. The newly implemented interdisciplinary Data Science Minor ensures a competitive edge for all students earning the minor. The Department has excellent physical resources, including five student labs in the state-of-the-art Gira Center for Communications and Information Technology building. Finally, the Department has a collegial environment where new ideas on Computer Science pedagogy, curriculum, and student engagement are accepted and encouraged.</p> <p>Responsibilities: The successful candidate's primary responsibility is teaching undergraduate and graduate Computer Science courses-specifically, Software Engineering, Secure Software Engineering, and other related core and advanced computer science courses. The flexibility of the department enables faculty to teach in other areas of interest, such as Data Science, IoT, and emerging topics. Faculty members at FSU are expected to actively participate in the University's student-learning-assessment program. Duties also will include campus, local, and regional engagement and professional service. The successful candidate must be committed to quality-student-centered teaching, curriculum development, curriculum review, applied research, and commitment to diversity and inclusion and civic engagement.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a doctorate from a regionally accredited university in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. ABD candidates with a firm completion date may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor with the requirement that the candidate finish the doctoral degree within the first year of employment.</p> <p>Must demonstrate a broad background in the application of computer science, software engineering, and student-centered learning. Must demonstrate a broad knowledge base in Computing curriculum and pedological best practices for Computer Science Education.
