Our broad approach delivers key results for our customers by achieving cloud driven modernization and workplace and operational transformation to own the business in a secure environment.</p> <p>Job Tittle: Mainframe Architect</p> <p>LOCATION: Hartford, CT</p> <ul> <li>Assess and Strategize: Work with the client's mainframe team to evaluate the current platform, identifying areas for improvement, optimization, and modernization. </li><li>Lead Projects: Own and manage assigned mainframe projects from start to finish, ensuring successful delivery. </li><li>Collaborate: Partner effectively with external vendors and internal technical teams (including DB2 and other database teams) to understand setups and coordinate project activities. </li><li>Optimize Performance: Develop and implement optimization plans for mainframe applications and infrastructure to boost performance and efficiency. </li><li>Innovate & Automate: Drive automation initiatives, including exploring and integrating Generative AI capabilities to enhance mainframe operations. </li><li>Govern & Report: Lead governance activities and weekly calls, providing clear project updates and aligning on strategic direction. </li><li>Deep Dive Analysis: Conduct comprehensive assessments of mainframe and storage environments to pinpoint bottlenecks and opportunities. </li></ul> <p>Expert-level proficiency in:</p> <ul> <li>Mainframe Core: IBM z/OS, Mainframe DB2 & Storage, CICS. </li><li>Security: RACF, CBAC. </li><li>Service Models: Mainframe as a Service (MaaS) concepts. </li></ul> <p>Solid working knowledge (medium proficiency) in:</p> <ul> <li>Development: COBOL, JCL. </li><li>Utilities: Various mainframe utilities. </li><li>SCM Tools: CA Endevor, Rocket LCM. </li><li>Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities to assess complex mainframe environments and propose effective solutions. </li><li>Communication & Leadership: Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to lead discussions, influence stakeholders, and present technical information clearly. </li><li>Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate teams and external partners. </li></ul> <p>Required skills:</p> <ul> <li>Mainframe DB2 & Storage, Mainframe CICS, CBAC, RACF, Mainframe as a service (Expert). </li><li>Mainframe Utilities & Mainframe Cobol, JCL, Zos, Endeavor, LCM (medium). </li></ul> <p>Applications will be accepted until 6/30/2025.</p> <p>The annual salary for this position is between $100,000 - $130,000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>Cognizant offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements:</p> <p>Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance.
