<p>About Our Job</p> <p>Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the residents of the City & County of Denver. DPL sees more than 4 million visitors every year across its 27 locations, serves Denver's most vulnerable communities through outreach and mobile services, hosts thousands of programs a year and manages a collection of more than 1.4 million physical and digital materials. DPL is committed to serving the evolving needs of Denverites through inspired programming, diverse collections, culturally-representative spaces, and equitable policies & procedures.</p> <p>The Stockroom Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective daily operations of library support services. This position directly supervises a team responsible for the timely delivery and retrieval of library materials, inventory management, and special project support. The Supervisor will lead, mentor, and develop their team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to utilize technology for tracking and reporting. A key aspect of this position involves overseeing the courier services, ensuring the reliable and secure transport of materials between library branches.</p> <p>What You Do:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supervisory Leadership: Develop or modify work plans, methods, and procedures to optimize team performance. Determine work priorities and develop work schedules to ensure adequate staff coverage across all service areas, including courier operations. Provide clear work instructions and offer guidance to employees on complex or unique assignments, promoting innovation and continuous improvement.</p> </li><li> <p>Work Assignment and Review: Assign and distribute tasks equitably among team members, taking into account individual skills and workload. Review completed work for accuracy and completeness, providing constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.</p> </li><li> <p>Problem Resolution and Teamwork: Proactively address and resolve operational challenges that arise during daily activities, identifying appropriate solutions to maintain service levels. Cultivate a positive and collaborative team environment, encouraging open communication and mutual support.</p> </li><li> <p>Communication and Information Sharing: Foster regular and transparent communication within the team, keeping staff informed of relevant library news, policy changes, and their impact on operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Performance Management: Establish clear performance goals for team members, document performance regularly, provide timely and constructive feedback, and conduct formal performance evaluations. Recognize and reward excellent performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Performance Improvement and Discipline: Assist staff in meeting and exceeding performance standards, identifying opportunities for professional development and continuous improvement. Document causes for disciplinary action, initiate letters of reprimand as necessary, and make formal recommendations for further disciplinary action. Respond to both formal and informal employee grievances and prepare thorough written responses.</p> </li><li> <p>Courier Service Management: Oversee the daily courier services, ensuring the timely and secure transportation of library materials and other items between all branch libraries using a company vehicle.</p> </li><li> <p>This includes:</p> </li><li> <p>Distributing courier assignments among team members to ensure efficient coverage of all routes.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitoring the adherence to schedules and addressing any delays or issues that may arise.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensuring the proper loading and unloading of materials, equipment, and supplies from the courier vehicle.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate a company vehicle to transport library books, materials, equipment, and supplies between various library locations.</p> </li><li> <p>Verifying that team members maintain accurate records of mileage, delivery loads, and any other relevant information related to courier activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborating with other departments and branch staff to optimize delivery schedules and routes as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensuring that all team members operating company vehicles adhere to safety standards and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Reporting and Tracking: Generate comprehensive reports for management that track the usage and value of items received and issued.
