<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards.</p> <p>The incumbent physician is expected to provide comprehensive patient care in the form of consultative inpatient and outpatient Dermatology patient care at the SBYVAMC. The physician will manage patients with ongoing medical conditions, inpatient, and outpatient, in collaboration with other services of the SBYVAMC. The incumbent is accountable to the Chief of Medicine Service assuring the most effective delivery of care.</p> <p>Duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Current BLS required </li><li>Interviews, examines, selects diagnostic testing appropriately, and interprets/collates results to coordinate patient care </li><li>Communicates and documents with clarity to patients and medical personnel to coordinate patient care </li><li>Procedural skills may include simple excision and repair, skin and nail biopsy, electro surgery basic, cryosurgery for benign lesions, advanced cryotherapy, curettage </li><li>Consultative input to outpatient and inpatient care </li><li>Collaborate with midlevel providers and physician colleagues with clear communication and documentation </li><li>Performs the administrative components of patient care management </li><li>Participate in the educational programs for the section personnel as well as the medical staff </li><li>Participate in monitoring the quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care, both at the Section and facility level </li><li>Miscellaneous activities of the Medical Service inclusive, but not limited to special projects that help fulfill and/or enhance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs as assigned by the Chief of Medicine, Chief of Staff and/or the SBY VAMC Executive Leadership </li><li>Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization </li><li>Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews </li><li>Attend Medicine Service monthly staff meetings and COS quarterly meetings as per bylaws </li><li>Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff </li><li>Participate in Medical Staff committee assignments </li><li>Perform other duties assigned by the Chief of Medicine, his Associate </li><li>Participate in, and attend, CME activities and VA continuing educational activities </li></ul> <p>Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be authorized for highly qualified candidates</p> <p>Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Learn more.</p> <p>EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive. Contact Rodney.Belk@va.gov, the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</p> <p>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</p> <p>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (4 day work schedule may be available)</p>
