<p>As a Visitor Assistant, you will be one of the first employees to greet and welcome visitors from all over the world, and ensure they have a memorable, educational, and safe experience at the New England Aquarium. From the bustling penguin colony and the four-story Giant Ocean Tank teeming with tropical fish, to the Simons Theatre offering the most cinematic way imaginable to see astounding creatures from our blue planet, we are committed to making sure each visitor is delighted by their aquarium adventure.</p> <p>This is a part-time, regular position. The schedule will be Fridays from 8:30a - 5p EST, Saturdays from 8:30a - 6p EST, and Sundays from 8:30a - 6p EST. Candidates that are only able to work Fridays/Saturdays or Fridays/Sundays will be also be considered.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate consistently high standards of customer service by interacting with our visitors and staff in a way that is professional, helpful, welcoming, and engaging. </li><li>Scan tickets for entry into the Aquarium and the Simons Theatre while guiding visitors to amenities such as restrooms, elevators, dining options, maps, and presentation schedules. </li><li>Greet visitors on the plaza, guide them to the correct location depending on their ticket type and/or membership status, and inform them of the next available time slot for entry on busy days. </li><li>Enforce timed ticketing on busy days, assist visitors with the best locations in the area to wait for their ticketing time slot, and suggest other activities in the area when the Aquarium is sold out of tickets for the day. </li><li>Calmly, courteously, and professionally respond to visitor concerns and complaints, take action to help resolve them, and refer to Lead Visitor Assistants and/or Associate Managers as needed. </li><li>Assist with training teen interns in the Visitor Experience department through coaching and leading by example. </li><li>Answer questions about tickets and coupons for the Aquarium and the Simons Theatre, memberships, animals and exhibits, daily programs, general tourist information, and anything related to the Aquarium and the surrounding area. </li><li>Greet school/tour groups to the Aquarium in an engaging and welcoming manner while informing chaperones of our rules and guidelines.
