<p>Must have the ability to work weekends and overnights.</p> <p>Must possess a valid drivers license.</p> <p>PURPOSE: To ensure guests, tenants, and team members at Mall of America have a positive experience by providing unparalleled service related to emergency response, protection of life and property, loss prevention, and guest service.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Patrol Mall of America common and restricted areas by foot or vehicle as assigned. </li><li>Deter unwanted behavior by maintaining a highly visible patrol presence. </li><li>Assist guests with questions including giving directions and locating lost people or vehicles. </li><li>Provide excellent guest service and maintain a professional, friendly manner in challenging situations. </li><li>Appropriately respond to emergency calls including medical emergencies, combative or disorderly guests, intoxicated persons, addressing persons committing illegal acts, and motor vehicle accidents. </li><li>Arrest disorderly or combative guests. </li><li>Maintain a high level of confidentiality, following MOA policy for sharing information when needed. </li><li>Adapt and respond to varying situations and circumstances, with an emphasis on safety of Mall property, team members, and guests. </li><li>Write detailed and accurate reports as required, including incident, accident or personal injury reports. </li><li>May be assigned to special events, conducting crowd control, VIP protection, or stationary posts monitoring access to restricted areas. </li><li>Utilize radio for clear and detailed communication with Dispatch, Supervisors, and other relevant staff. </li><li>Request Police, Fire, and EMS services as necessary. </li><li>Conduct periodic safety and fire equipment inspections. </li><li>Issue parking violation tickets, conduct traffic direction as assigned. </li><li>Deescalate situations when faced with upset guests. </li><li>Assist tenants with loss prevention, safety awareness, and disorderly guest incidents as directed. </li><li>Monitor safety awareness practices among Mall staff and tenants and promptly identify and report any hazardous conditions according to procedure. </li><li>Regularly carry equipment including handcuffs, pepper spray, tactical baton, and a conducted electrical weapon (CEW). </li><li>Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, high volume days, mandatory overtime, and short notice special events. </li><li>Additional duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Must be at least 18 years of age. </li><li>Must possess a valid driver's license. </li><li>Prior CPR and First Aid training preferred and able to perform CPR on all body types. </li><li>Excellent guest service skills. </li><li>Strong listening and written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Excellent information recall skills. </li><li>Successful completion of a rigorous 120 hour in-house physical and skills training program. </li><li>Officers must withstand a full five-second exposure to a CEW and exposure to pepper spray. </li><li>Able to remain calm in stressful situations utilizing rational thinking and decision making skills. </li><li>Maintain an adequate level of physical fitness to perform duties effectively. </li><li>Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local law preferred. </li><li>Training as a first responder, EMT, or Paramedic preferred. </li><li>Military or law enforcement experience preferred. </li><li>Prior security experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the officer will frequently be required to speak and listen to guests to understand their needs and communicate a solution.
