<p>Job Description:</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Principal</p> <p>EXAMPLE (S) of WORK PERFORMED:</p> <ul> <li>Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school and implementation of district policy. </li><li>Assists the principal in supervising, observing and evaluating the performance of the building staff. </li><li>Assists the principal in planning, supervising and evaluating the instructional program. </li><li>Assists in the preparation of teacher schedules, student schedules, extracurricular activities, etc. </li><li>Supervises student discipline/conduct. </li><li>Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with parents, counselors, social workers and other resources to address attendance concerns. </li><li>Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal. </li><li>Assists the principal in administering school operational policies and procedures and in developing the building budget. </li><li>Assists and supervises substitute staff as directed by the principal. </li><li>Prepares reports as directed by the principal. </li><li>Assumes responsibility for the operation, maintenance and cleanliness of the school building, grounds equipment and materials. </li><li>Serves with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives. </li><li>Assists in safety inspections, safety drill practice activities and emergency procedures. </li><li>Assists the principal in planning, implementing, and monitoring staff development and growth activities. </li><li>Assist in administration of volunteer and extracurricular activities. </li><li>Assumes responsibility for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services. </li><li>Communicates with parents. </li><li>Pursues professional growth and development through staff development opportunities, postgraduate education, membership and participation in professional organizations and attendance at regional, state and national meetings. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (*)</p> <p>(*) When a specific assignment has additional or different ESSENTIAL FUNCTION requirements, the differences will be discussed at the time of assignment.</p> <ul> <li>Regular attendance is required to provide support to students and staff. </li><li>Requires travel to work sites within a building. </li><li>Meets with students and parents outside the instructional day. </li><li>Reviews and interprets test results and printed reports to obtain information necessary for decision-making, planning and management. </li><li>Prepares and maintains written reports. </li><li>Develops information for written reports and correspondence to officials inside and outside the district. </li><li>Communicates student assignments and behavior problems in writing with others. </li><li>Discusses individual student circumstances with teachers, principals, and parents. </li><li>Conducts individual or group meetings. </li><li>Provides oversight and evaluative supervision of assigned staff. </li><li>Communicates with employees and parents via telephone. </li><li>Communicates student assignments and behavior problems verbally with others. </li><li>Observes and evaluates employee performance. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:</p> <p>Vocational Preparation: (Experience)</p> <p>Minimum 3 years successful teaching experience at the elementary level</p> <p>3 years successful building administration experience at the elementary level preferred</p> <p>Education Preparation: (Formal and Informal)</p> <p>Master's Degree in Education Administration</p> <p>Missouri teaching and administrative certification at the elementary level</p>
