<p>Position Purpose: The Controls Estimator assists Outside/Inside Sales Engineers and Account Management team in growing the market served. This is done by supporting the discovery and qualification of sales opportunities, documenting and maintaining bid calendars, and coordinating with both inside and outside entities for the successful estimating of work. The ideal candidate either already has or is willing to develop a strong technical understanding of HVAC products and systems, as well as excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills.</p> <p>Employment at Will: Nothing herein is intended to create a contract of employment or to guarantee employment for a definite duration.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with HBT Sales and Account Management teams to understand customer requirements, to promote the sale of company products and to provide sales support. </li><li>Confer with customers and Sales and Account Management teams to assess HVAC equipment needs and to determine system requirements. </li><li>Maintain detailed records and project notes on the development of plans and Estimated Systems. </li><li>Complete take-off and Scopes of work of Building Automation Systems from building plans and specifications. </li><li>Work with the HBT team to develop project proposals based on customer request or information. </li><li>Assemble and review technical documents for turnover of project from sales to operations team. </li><li>Articulate reasons for selections and prices for operations team to assist in project understanding of execution team </li><li>Review specifications to ensure HBT is listed and able to pursue work, Follow up with design engineer in circumstances where it is not. </li><li>Provide weekly pursuit and status updates to Sales Team </li><li>Maintain detailed revision control notes on all project pricing and proposals. </li><li>Provide technical support to installing contractors and end users. </li><li>Coordinate responses to inquiries with Sales Team, Project Managers, Technicians, and internal Engineers. </li><li>Attend industry education events, industry workshops, and manufacturer update briefings on current trends and new Controls information. </li></ul> <p>Position Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. </li><li>Basic understanding or interest in commercial/industrial HVAC systems is helpful. Willingness to learn how to read construction plans and engineering specifications. </li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows OS) is required. Exposure to software like Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, or Adobe Acrobat is a plus, but not required. </li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing work accurately. </li><li>Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to clearly explain ideas and technical concepts to others. </li><li>Organized and methodical, with a willingness to follow processes and contribute to team goals. </li><li>Flexible and adaptable, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Self-starter with a desire to learn and grow.
