<p>The City of Kettering is accepting submissions for the position of:</p> <p>Regular Part-Time Assistant Volunteer Coordinator</p> <p>Pay range $20.19 to $29.18 per hour</p> <p>Up to 28 hours per week with an anticipated schedule of Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m. with some flexibility</p> <p>Dental, vision and life insurance</p> <p>OPERS retirement</p> <p>Vacation and sick leave</p> <p>The City of Kettering's Communications and Engagement Team is currently seeking a Regular Part-Time Assistant Volunteer Coordinator.</p> <p>If you would like to play a vital role in supporting the Volunteer Administrator with recruiting, retaining, recognizing and facilitating the development of new and engaging opportunities for volunteers of all ages and abilities, we want to hear from you! Bring your creativity and positive attitude to help make every volunteer's experience a success.</p> <p>You will have the opportunity to:</p> <ul> <li>Engage with and show appreciation to the dedicated volunteers who make Kettering special </li><li>Help grow and expand our volunteer program to reach more residents and create new opportunities </li><li>Build meaningful connections with community members who are passionate about serving Kettering </li><li>Schedule, coordinate and assign volunteers to appropriate departments and supervisors </li><li>Assist with the planning, implementation and supervision of projects and events </li><li>Prepare monthly statistics </li><li>Maintain the department's web pages and computerized system for volunteer data </li><li>Write newsletters, letters, reports and articles as necessary </li></ul> <p>The ideal candidate will have experience with volunteer organizations, outstanding communication, organizational and customer service skills; and the ability to project a positive image to the public and work collaboratively with others in a team environment. The Coordinator will conduct themselves in a professional manner, be capable of independent judgment; and have the ability to work independently within a flexible schedule. Join our team and make an impact in our community by delivering exceptional service and support!</p> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>Works collaboratively with the Volunteer Administrator in the recruitment, retention, recognition and risk management of the city's volunteer program, while facilitating the development of new and engaging opportunities for volunteers of all ages and abilities.</p> <p>DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE POSITION:</p> <p>This position requires advanced communication skills, both written and oral. Must be self-motivated, extremely well organized, detail oriented and able to juggle multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with a variety of individuals.</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only)</p> <ul> <li>Schedules, coordinates and assigns volunteers to appropriate departments and supervisors; </li><li>Actively participates in new volunteer orientations; </li><li>Assists with the planning and supervision of projects and events including neighborhood cleanups, retreats, educational sessions, recognition and graduation events; </li><li>Assists with set up and tear down, including occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds, for special events coordinated by the Volunteer Office; </li><li>Initiates and tracks volunteer background checks; </li><li>Collaborates with the Volunteer Administrator in developing new programs for volunteers; </li><li>Prepares monthly statistics; </li><li>Works with others to coordinate mailings and printed materials; </li><li>Prepares and distributes meeting minutes; </li><li>Maintains computerized system for volunteer data; including mail lists, skills, assignments and hours; </li><li>Writes news releases, letters, reports, and articles as necessary; </li><li>Maintains the department's web pages; </li><li>Assists in managing and promoting the volunteer program; </li><li>Participates in a variety of Kettering supported programs including, but not limited to, the Leadership Academy and Neighborhood Pride Committee; </li><li>Recruits and schedules Fraze Pavilion volunteers while working directly with the Fraze Pavilion Team; </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned and assumes some of the duties of the Volunteer Administrator when called upon to do so; </li><li>Regular and predictable on-site attendance required. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <p>Related experience, preferably in volunteer services; outstanding organizational skills; excellent customer service; excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, the general public, employees, city officials and other volunteer-related service agencies; ability to work in a team environment and professional manner, capable of independent judgment; ability to work independently; ability to work a flexible schedule; experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access; experience with Volunteer Impact software and WordPress is desirable.</p> <p>ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:</p> <p>Experience with volunteer organizations preferred; completion of a high school diploma or its equivalent required supplemented with additional related college courses or seminars; previous public relations and volunteer management experience desirable or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.</p>
