<p>The Pharmacy Resident enhances the quality of patient care by influencing safe, appropriate and cost-effective pharmacotherapeutics through verifying medication orders, consulting with doctors and nurses on the appropriate dosing and selection of therapeutic alternatives for patients and assisting the physician by monitoring the metabolic and nutritional needs of the patient. The Pharmacy Resident is a clinical pharmacist in training who provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, clinical services and teaching. The resident provides services consistent with other services provided by all types of pharmacists at Woman's Hospital.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree is required. </li><li>Active Pharmacist license or Pharmacist intern registration issued by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. </li><li>Experience in institution pharmacy practice is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Maintains competency in unique aspects of drug therapy for the patients for which they provide care, including factors related to patients of all age groups. </li><li>Provides pharmaceutical care by assisting the medical staff in selecting therapy regimens that cost-effectively meet individual patient needs. </li><li>Reviews and processes medication orders when required to ensure safe and effective use </li><li>Performs patient care rounds with an emphasis on identifying drug therapy issues and optimizing medication therapy plans. </li><li>Monitors drug therapy to ensure appropriate use. </li><li>Mentors and precepts pharmacy students consistent with academic credentials and clinical experience. </li><li>Develops educational materials and provides educational programs for the pharmacy, nursing, and physician staff and other hospital personnel. Prepares and disseminates educational materials on new medications, policies, and protocols. </li><li>Participates in research projects that are in concert with the goals and objectives of the department. </li><li>Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital. </li></ul> <p>Schedule:</p> <p>July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027</p> <p>Pay Range:</p> <p>$45,000/annually</p> <p>A Work Experience with Purpose</p> <p>Woman's is one of the largest specialty hospitals in the country dedicated to the care of women and infants.
