<p>Position Description</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: ESL Teacher, Southside Elementary, Grades 3 and 4</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: Arkansas teaching license and endorsement or training in English as a Second Language</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Administrator(s) and District ESOL Supervisor</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Work collaboratively with instructional and interdisciplinary teams </li><li>Serve as a resource for classroom teachers </li><li>Administer ESL placement and reevaluation assessments </li><li>Be familiar with ELPA21 and its testing procedures </li><li>Implement a variety of effective, research based instructional strategies consistently to engage learners with the essential learning standards </li><li>Monitor and assess student progress frequently, using both formative and summative assessments, and provide progress reports as requested </li><li>Coordinate with General Education teacher to create appropriate Tier 1 and Tier 2 instruction and interventions </li><li>Implement English Language Development (ELD) within sheltered classes. </li><li>Create a classroom environment that reflects respectful interactions between students and teachers, as well as student to student </li><li>Communicate with Special Education, Gifted and Talented, counseling, health services, etc to provide appropriate services for English learners </li><li>Lead building Language Placement and Assessment Committee meetings </li><li>Communicate identified accommodations for students to regular classroom teachers </li><li>Maintain effective classroom behavior expectations and procedures </li><li>Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress </li><li>Provide direction and support to ESL parapros, when applicable </li><li>Effectively implement district initiatives </li></ul> <p>OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations </li><li>Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors </li><li>Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities </li><li>Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation. </li><li>Serve on committees as assigned </li><li>Remain current on instructional practices in education </li></ul>
