Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Hourly Range</p> <p>27.74</p> <p>Overview The Printing Assistant 2 position is a multifunctional role at YPPS, primarily focused on Finishing & Bindery. Key responsibilities include operating various finishing machines, such as folders, hole drills, collators, staplers, booklet makers, paper cutters, perforators, and binders (comb, coil, and perfect binding). Additional duties include but are not limited to: Manual Finishing: Performing tasks such as cutting, folding, binding, and assembling printed materials by hand to ensure quality and precision. Use of manual equipment as needed. Digital Presses & Wide Format Operation: Assisting with the setup and operation of digital printing equipment, and wide format printers maintaining quality control throughout the printing process. Collaboration and Support: Working with team members to meet deadlines, assist with troubleshooting, and maintain a clean and organized workspace. The printing assistant will prioritize the daily workload and ensure printed materials meet the specifications according to the written job ticket and adhere to brand guidelines. Responsible for the daily maintenance and care of machinery, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and performing necessary calibrations on equipment as required. Inspect printed materials throughout the production process to ensure they meet quality standards, adjusting and performing quality checks to maintain consistency. Monitor production processes to identify and resolve any issues or malfunctions that may affect the quality or efficiency of operations, adjusting as necessary. Must be fluent in a Windows-based work environment and proficient in basic computer skills including typical digital printing software and mailing software, Microsoft Office products, database systems, and MIS systems. Working in a team environment is necessary. Must be willing to be trained and work in all areas of the print production area. Must maintain the security and confidentiality of material and information processed and preserve and pass along client material and property in clean and undamaged condition. The successful employee anticipates what needs to be done and can switch tasks as priorities dictate. Communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work well with internal and external customers are key to this position. Duties could involve backup coverage for nearly any production activity within the department. Required Skills and Abilities 1. Must have experience operating various complex finishing machines including, but not limited to, the equipment listed in the Position Focus. Must be able to use tools and work independently. 2. Demonstrated history of reliable work attendance, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment under pressure of deadlines and adapting to changes in production requirements and schedules. 3. Must be able to understand complex written and verbal instructions, completing work as instructed on a job ticket. 4. Must be able to measure and calculate complex math problems with accuracy and adjustments required for bindery operations. 5. Basic computer skills include using Microsoft Office Suite. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills Experience operating bindery equipment, digital presses, wide format printers, and attention to detail and a keen eye for quality to ensure accurate and flawless finished products.</p> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Schedules, sets up, operates, and maintains machinery for the production of printed material through typesetting, binding, lithography, and specialized offset printing. 2. Provides information to clients on style, format, ink, and type selection and lay-out. 3. Determines methods and materials for production. 4. Monitors jobs for accuracy, completeness and quality. 5. Makes adjustments to produce highest quality results. 6. Maintains and repairs equipment. Identifies and repairs malfunctions. 7. May order necessary supplies and materials. 8. Performs additional functions incidental to printing service activities. Required Education and Experience Four years of related work experience, two of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and a high school level education, or two years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. </li></ol> <p>Background Check Requirements</p> <p>All candidates for employment will be subject to pre-employment background screening for this position, which may include motor vehicle, DOT certification, drug testing and credit checks based on the position description and job requirements.
