This role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive ophthalmologic care across a variety of settings while supporting UCLA Health's mission to expand access to vision care throughout Los Angeles.</p> <p>The Center for Community Outreach and Policy provides essential vision services to children and adults in underserved communities across Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. This position is designed for physicians who are passionate about community-based care and are interested in delivering meaningful clinical impact through both outreach and traditional clinical practice.</p> <p>This individual will:</p> <ul> <li>Provide professional ophthalmic services, including vision screenings, exams, and refractions in community-based settings such as schools, health fairs, and homeless shelters, as well as within UCLA clinic locations </li><li>Deliver comprehensive eye exams and refractions for both pediatric and adult patients across diverse care environments </li><li>Assist with ordering prescription eyeglasses for pediatric and adult vision programs </li><li>Serve as a clinical resource to staff by answering questions related to exams and refractions </li><li>Collaborate with residents and fellows from the Stein Eye Institute and participate in teaching medical students, undergraduate students, and volunteers </li><li>Engage with patients, families, educators, and community partners to address vision-related questions and support ongoing care </li><li>Travel to and work across multiple outreach and clinical locations throughout Los Angeles and surrounding counties </li><li>Maintain a full-time clinical schedule, providing patient care five days per week </li><li>Participate in monthly departmental meetings </li></ul> <p>The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in community outreach and a commitment to serving diverse and underserved populations, along with the ability to work effectively across a variety of care settings.</p> <p>The University of California seeks to recruit and retain a strong workforce as a reflection of our commitment to serve the people of California, maintain excellence, and foster a community of diverse perspectives and experiences.</p> <p>The University of California, Los Angeles is required to provide an estimate of the salary range for this role.
