Yes VP Area U of U Health - Academics Department 00943 - HSC Core Resrch Facility Oper Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $12-15 Close Date 09/01/2026 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary</p> <p>The Flow Cytometry Core Facility offers instrumentation for the broader research community and works alongside roughly 100 different labs. In addition to providing instrumentation, The Flow Core also has a critical full service pipeline of drop off projects mostly involving human blood clinical trials. After training there will be a wide array of potential procedures and projects available for applicants. These will include validations and optimization of large immunophenotyping panels along with instrument calibration and quality control.</p> <p>The department may choose to hire at any of the below job levels and associated pay rates based on their business need and budget.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist with daily operations of the flow cytometry core facility, including instrument startup and shutdown procedures </li><li>Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of flow cytometers and associated equipment </li><li>Prepare samples for analysis, including cell staining, washing, and filtering under supervision </li><li>Support basic flow cytometry data acquisition using established protocols </li><li>Help organize and track samples, reagents, and laboratory supplies </li><li>Maintain accurate records of instrument usage, maintenance logs, and experimental data </li><li>Assist in quality control procedures to ensure proper instrument performance </li><li>Provide general laboratory support, including buffer preparation and waste disposal following safety guidelines </li><li>Help manage inventory and notify staff of low-stock supplies </li><li>Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and institutional policies </li><li>Assist researchers and lab staff with basic troubleshooting and workflow setup </li><li>Participate in training sessions to develop technical skills in flow cytometry and related laboratory methods </li><li>Maintain cleanliness and organization of the core facility workspace </li><li>Perform other administrative or lab-related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).</p> <p>Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:</p> <p>Laboratory Technician, I: Requires little to no related experience.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <p>This is an entry level position and on the job training is provided. The ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; the ability to keep accurate records; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.</p> <p>A general knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment and terminology; the ability to operate and care for laboratory equipment; and a knowledge of appropriate specimen handling techniques preferred.</p> <p>An interest in Immunology/Cancer biology is preferred.</p> <p>Special Instructions Summary Additional Information</p> <p>The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
