<p>Summary of Position</p> <p>Ensures the day-to-day functionality of development efforts for WYSU-FM, including underwriting, membership, major gifts, planned giving program, foundation support, vehicle donation program, and any other external funding opportunities that may arise.</p> <p>Position Information</p> <p>Ensures the day-to-day functionality of the assigned area's operations and services as related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective. Coordinates daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of a department's/division's overall programs and/or services.</p> <p>Coordinates activities to secure and maintain underwriting.</p> <p>Ensures billing and payments are managed in an accurate and timely way; follows up with underwriters on overdue payments. Assists with the WYSU daily deposit procedure as needed.</p> <p>Maintains hard-copy files of all accounts including contracts and account history.</p> <p>Maintains relationships with underwriters for renewal, upgrade, and recognition purposes. Actively monitors existing contracts to ensure accounts are renewed prior to expiration.</p> <p>Stays current on Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) rules and regulations as they relate to public radio including underwriting language and promotional consideration in underwriting credits and day sponsor announcements.</p> <p>Organizes and coordinates various aspects of membership services such as on-air fundraising campaigns; compiles reports tracking gift income, outstanding pledges, new member solicitations, and member activity.</p> <p>Coordinates direct mail activities.</p> <p>Oversees design and production marketing materials related to fundraising, including newsletters, banners, posters, thank you gifts and other materials.</p> <p>Confers with station management to assist with establishing fundraising goals.</p> <p>Develops, organizes, and coordinates major giving and planned giving fundraising efforts.</p> <p>Evaluates all fundraising processes, analyzes results, and makes recommendations for increased effectiveness.</p> <p>Solicits individual and business sponsors for WYSU events. Attends WYSU events regularly to participate in their successful management and to develop relationships with current and potential underwriters.</p> <p>Works closely with YSU Foundation team on major funding projects.</p> <p>Oversees member communication, including maintaining the WYSU member and sponsor email list, and drafting and distributing the WYSU e-newsletter. Assists with maintaining the station's membership database.</p> <p>Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists in the station's marketing initiatives and outreach events.</p> <p>Assists with daily station operations as needed.</p> <p>Assists with training new hires.</p> <p>Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.</p> <p>Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.</p> <p>Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday.</p> <p>Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over student employees.</p> <p>Reports to: Associate Director</p> <p>Qualifications and Competencies</p> <p>Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: None</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <p>Knowledge of: Word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, including the ability to learn new applications; University policies and procedures<em>; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives</em>; department/division policies and procedures<em>; workplace safety practices and procedures</em>; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management; project management.</p> <p>Skill in: Using excellent proactive communication skills (written, verbal, and public presentation); maintaining positive, professional, and friendly relationships with community members and partners; use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*.</p> <p>Ability to: Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment; successfully work to meet deadlines; collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; maintain records according to established procedures; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one tasks to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships.</p> <p>(*) Developed after employment.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor's degree; three or more years of experience in fundraising development to gain/maintain donor relationships, underwriting, sponsorships, and/or planned giving.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a non-commercial radio or non-profit business environment. Experience in revenue generating disciplines such as sales, marketing, donor development and solicitation, fundraising or major giving programs. Experience using specialized membership software and/or web donation software.</p> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>This position is contingent upon the University's continuing receipt of funds from an external source adequate to fully support the appointment.</p>
