<p>Reports to: Head of School</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>Greater Egleston seeks a Director who is an innovative and driven leader responsible for the school's daily operations, facilities management, and the implementation of robust student support systems. This role integrates academic advancement, relational accountability, and "leave to learn" partnership opportunities to ensure students are prepared for post-secondary success through college and career readiness initiatives.</p> <p>GEHS operates under an Election to Work Agreement (EWA), which includes responsibilities beyond the standard BTU contract such as extended days, additional duties, and professional development.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Characteristics:</p> <ul> <li>Strategic Thinking: Ability to create and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency and school safety. </li><li>Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse families, students, and community partners. </li><li>Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Google Suite and school databases (e.g., Aspen, SIS, Panorama, Naviance/Xello). </li><li>Expertise: Deep understanding of career technical education, Early College frameworks, and restorative justice practices. </li></ul> <p>Core Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Operational Leadership and Facilities Management </li><li>Manage daily school operations and facilities issues in collaboration with district staff. </li><li>Monitor school attendance completion </li><li>Design and oversee administrative and lunch duty schedules, including supervision of staff and monitoring students during arrival, transitions, lunch and dismissal. </li><li>Serve as the primary liaison for safety issues, safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and fire safety drills and promotes awareness among school staff. </li><li>Support event planning and logistics for internal events such as graduation, award ceremonies, admissions events, and special programs as assigned </li><li>Manage new-student onboarding, orientation, and transition. </li><li>Lead non-instructional and operational decision-making as a core member of the administrative team. </li><li>Works with the office manager to monitor sub assignments, report card mailings, event invitations and beginning and end of school communications. </li><li>Supervises substitute teachers, including arranging for coverage, and ensuring that substitute folders are up to date and available for monitoring and evaluating purposes. </li><li>Works with the food service team to ensure the smooth function of school meals. </li><li>Work with the Head of School to ensure the efficiency of operational systems. </li><li>Report cards/transcript accuracy, master calendar accuracy, </li><li>Standardized assessments </li><li>Coordinates and supervises the administration of MCAS and MAP assessments </li><li>Other duties as designated by the Head of School and administrative staff </li><li>Student Support and Academic Advancement </li><li>Work in close partnership with the Head of School as architect and implementation lead for culture - building efforts and continuous improvement </li><li>Collaborate with the Student Support Team (SST) to resolve student concerns. </li><li>Co-lead MTSS with MTSS Coordinator and implement action-oriented, data-driven interventions for students facing attendance, academic, or conduct-related challenges. </li><li>Supervise and evaluate School Counselors, and staff responsible for student support systems. </li><li>Analyze student data on a daily and quarterly basis to identify and support students in need. </li><li>Coordinate academic and citizenship recognition ceremonies and awards. </li><li>Support new-student onboarding, orientation, and transition. </li><li>Relational Accountability </li><li>Follow through with school-based disciplinary protocols, including the management of bullying, harassment, suspensions, and expulsions. </li><li>Updates and maintains student and staff handbooks </li><li>Establishes and maintains a constructive relationship with the Faculty Senate and Student Council </li><li>Work individually with students to develop specific behavior plans and interventions. </li><li>"Leave to Learn" Partnerships and Career Readiness </li><li>Collaborate with the Director of Partnerships and School Counselor to cultivate and maintain relationships with external partners, higher education institutions, and industry trades to create off-campus learning experiences. </li><li>Develop a sequence of career exploration opportunities such as job shadows, internships, and field trips. </li><li>Negotiate new partnerships and evaluate the performance of existing ones to ensure they meet the school's mission. </li><li>Collaborate with Family Engagement Coordinators to ensure families are informed of partnership opportunities and celebrate student accomplishments. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree </li><li>3-5 years experience in urban school school system working with a diverse ethnic student body </li><li>Demonstrate capability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, such as school staff, school partners, families, youth, community members and other essential internal and external partners </li><li>Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a family-centered and equity-focused approach. </li><li>Current authorization to work in the United States </li></ul> <p>Preferred - Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual proficiency; Spanish strongly preferred. </li><li>Familiarity with Boston Public Schools admissions and enrollment systems. </li><li>Experience with BPS Code of Conduct </li><li>Experience Previous experience in an urban school environment and a demonstrated ability to lead in a multicultural atmosphere. </li></ul> <p>TERMS: Managerial Tier D</p> <p>Please refer to www.bostonpublicschools.org/ohc (under "Employee Benefits and Policies") for more information on salary and compensation. Salaries are listed by Unions and Grade/Step.</p> <p>NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223-day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or school leader of the Page 4 of 4 school. School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time.
