<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Greenwich Public Schools seeks a full-time (35 hours/week, school year) professional assistant (paraeducator) to work at Hamilton Avenue Elementary School. Professional assistants provide instructional support to students in small groups and one-to-one settings under the direction of a certified teacher. In this role, the professional assistant will provide academic intervention support. An updated collective bargaining agreement provides competitive salary and benefits. Base salary ranges from $25.24/hr. to $29.94/hr., with additional stipend pay of up to $5,500 annually available for professional assistants with special responsibilities.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Effectively implements instructional plans and Response to Intervention (RtI) plans by communicating clearly and respectfully, actively encouraging student participation in decision making and task planning, explaining classroom activities and routines, encouraging student participation in activities, and encouraging an appropriate level of independence. </li><li>Follows recommendations and directions efficiently and effectively, asking for clarification when needed and providing feedback on student performance. </li><li>Effectively supports literacy and mathematics program implementation of goals and objectives by following intervention plans, participating in program development, and implementing teachers' instructional plans. </li><li>Assists colleagues and students in a positive manner. </li><li>Assists and participates in team planning activities as needed. </li><li>Maintains strict confidentiality of students and families. </li><li>Refers questions from family members to supervising staff as appropriate. </li><li>Work with students, parents, support teachers, specialists, and learning facilitators related to literacy and mathematics instruction. </li><li>Pushes into classrooms to support small-group instruction. </li><li>Provides support for RTI intervention in various reading and mathematics areas as prescribed by literacy specialists, mathematics interventionists, and/or learning facilitators. </li><li>Participates in professional development that supports teachers, literacy, and mathematics initiatives </li><li>Monitors, documents, records data, and reports out the progress of children to literacy specialists, mathematics interventionists, teachers, and/or learning facilitators. </li><li>Supports the development of school teams, disseminating information about student progress to literacy specialists, mathematics interventionists, teachers, and/or learning facilitators. </li><li>Aids in organizing, maintaining, disseminating, and processing school literacy ande mathematics materials. </li><li>Provides a positive and nurturing guide for students and attends to their physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs. </li><li>Performs related work as required. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Profile</p> <p>Professional assistants must possess an Associate's Degree, a passing score on the ParaPro Competency Exam, or equivalent experience.
