The Department of Physics and Engineering invites applications for a Temporary Faculty Instructor position. The position will begin in Fall 2025.</p> <p>West Chester University, a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, is a public, comprehensive institution committed to offering high-quality undergraduate education, selected post-baccalaureate and graduate programs, and a variety of educational and cultural resources for its students, alumni, and citizens of southeastern Pennsylvania. We are a community of educators dedicated to developing graduates who succeed personally and professionally and contribute to the common good.</p> <p>The Temporary Faculty Instructor will teach a variety of courses in the physics curriculum. The incumbent will provide in-person, face-to-face, on-campus teaching and instructional learning.   Classes may be held during the daytime and/or evening hours. Potential courses may include:</p> <ul> <li>Algebra-based physics lab </li><li>Calculus-based physics lab </li><li>Algebra-based physics lecture </li><li>Survey courses in physics for general education students </li></ul> <p>The ideal candidate will use innovative teaching skills and demonstrate attention to the learning and teaching needs of the department's students.</p> <p> The incumbent will collaborate with other department faculty and staff to ensure student success.</p> <p>The initial appointment will be for one semester with the possibility of renewal for future semesters based on department needs. </p> <p>A typical semester workload may involve teaching 2 to 6 credits per semester. The workload is dependent on department needs.</p> <p>Applications will be kept on file for possible future opportunities. </p> <p>Responsibilities include: </p> <ul> <li>Teach courses in the Physics curriculum. Additional courses within area of specialization may be assigned based on department needs. </li><li>Provide students with support during office hours. </li><li>Participate in Department and College meetings and events. </li></ul> <p>B.S. in Physics or related field</p> <ul> <li>Master's or Ph.D. in Physics or related field; and/or </li><li>Teaching experience; and/or  </li><li>Professional experience as a scientist or engineer </li></ul> <p>Salary per three-credit course is $6,941.43</p> <p>Apply online at https://www.schooljobs.com/careers/wcupa.
