As a nurturing university community, we challenge students, faculty, staff, and administration to fully realize their highest academic, professional, and personal potential.</p> <p>Position Description Summary/Purpose:</p> <p>The position requires focus on two areas of student counseling; Satisfactory Academic Progress and Financial Literacy. The Coordinator is responsible for monitoring students' academic progress according to Title IV regulations and school benchmark policies. This position counsels and supports students to assist them in establishing and attaining good academic standing. In addition, the position requires outreach to students to ensure they complete the required Financial Literacy course as well as one-on-one student counseling related to fiscal responsibility.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:</p> <p>(The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)</p> <p>Satisfactory Academic Progress:</p> <ul> <li>Audits students' academic records at the end of each evaluation point to determine financial aid eligibility based on Title IV regulations </li><li>Documents student accounts with SAP statuses </li><li>Support students who are on Academic Warning or Probation by creating academic plans </li><li>Active participant of the SAP Appeal Board </li><li>Collaborates with Admissions, Financial Aid and Business offices for students who are not meeting their benchmarks </li><li>Collaborates with the academic department for students requesting registering for repeated course </li><li>Processes requests for readmitted students by evaluating SAP from previous enrollment and responding accordingly. </li></ul> <p>Financial Literacy:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for the management of a comprehensive Financial Education Program for Goodwin students through a mandatory course, FIL 101, for all undergraduate students </li><li>Utilizes institutional social media outlets to educate the college community regarding programs and assist in the design of marketing materials, website and outreach strategies for program events and resources </li><li>Active and consistent communication and outreach to counsel delinquent student loan borrowers to resolve delinquencies and defaults. </li><li>Maintains consistent contact with lenders to ensure accurate reporting to/from NSLDS </li><li>Participates in events such as Welcome Week, New Student Orientation, Summer Bridge Program and Grad Expo </li><li>Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed. </li></ul> <p>Other Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation permits </li><li>Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends </li><li>Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Ability and Skills</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated commitment to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work in an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity </li><li>Demonstrated initiative and ownership </li><li>Excellent communications, presentation, influencing and organizational skills </li><li>Research, planning and program development skills </li><li>Program evaluation skills </li><li>Training and work leadership skills </li><li>Social media and Microsoft Office application proficiency. </li></ul>
