The ideal candidate will be committed to strengthening literacy across disciplines and implementing instructional strategies that promote student ownership of learning.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study </li><li>Incorporate evidence-based instructional strategies, including writing-to-learn, collaborative learning, inquiry-based instruction, and explicit vocabulary development </li><li>Use formative assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth </li><li>Foster critical thinking, reading comprehension, and strong written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Create a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes high expectations and mutual respect </li><li>Participate actively in Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) to analyze data, plan instruction, and refine practices </li><li>Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues </li><li>Support school initiatives that promote student engagement and academic progress </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field </li><li>Valid North Carolina teaching license (or eligibility for licensure) in English Language Arts </li><li>Strong knowledge of literacy instruction and secondary ELA standards </li><li>Commitment to continuous professional growth </li><li>Ability to build positive relationships with students and families </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience teaching high school English </li><li>Knowledge of AVID instructional strategies and WICOR methodologies </li><li>Experience integrating technology to enhance student learning </li><li>Demonstrated success in increasing student achievement </li></ul> <p>Why Join AGHS?</p> <p>Ayden-Grifton High School is a collaborative learning community focused on instructional rigor, student engagement, and measurable academic growth.
