<p>As a participant in the Belk Internship Program, you will gain real word experience and exposure to various functional areas of Store Operations. You will focus on presenting a well merchandised and visual appealing store front for customers. As a Store Intern you will gain exposure to leadership roles such as Merchandising and Selling Leads, partner closely with the operations, sales, and visual teams to ensure new receipts are merchandised in a way that aligns with our brand, appeals to our customer and encourages her to buy. Understanding company directives and the ability to interpret merchandise guidelines is essential to success in this role.</p> <p>Interns will leave understanding the complexity of big box department stores and the excitement of the retail and ecommerce industry. The internship will be located in Charleston, South Carolina with a work schedule of 35 - 40 hours Sunday - Saturday.</p> <p>Essential Functions/Responsibilities:</p> <p>Brand Ambassador and Social Media Management:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Maintain a welcoming and friendly attitude toward associates and customers</p> </li><li> <p>Educate customers about the brand, products, and promotions to drive sales.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participate in promotional events, product launches, and community outreach.</p> </li><li> <p>Social media management and content creation execution</p> </li><li> <p>Leverage social media platforms to share store activities and promote the brand</p> </li><li> <p>Collect customer feedback and insights to improve engagement strategies.</p> </li></ul> <p>Merchandising and Selling:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers and answering inquiries.</p> </li><li> <p>Support Store Management with coordination of daily operations of the store including merchandising new product to the floor.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with inventory management, including receiving and tagging merchandise.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process transactions accurately.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store.</p> </li><li> <p>Support Store Management with coordination of the daily operations of the store including merchandising new product to the floor</p> </li><li> <p>Work proactively with others to maintain visual and merchandising presentation standards to ensure a seamless customer experience</p> </li><li> <p>Drive customer service during assigned shifts by celebrating wins in the moment and communicating further coaching needs to management team.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead floor presentation adjustments in anticipation of new product</p> </li><li> <p>Present a well merchandised and visually appealing store front for customers</p> </li><li> <p>Passionately tell the SDS x Crown & Ivy story and have knowledge of who Belk is</p> </li><li> <p>Be a pleasant and welcoming representation of the Belk brand</p> </li></ul> <p>What You'll Learn</p> <ul> <li> <p>Basic understanding of running a store front</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of the Charleston market and how to convert customers</p> </li><li> <p>Fundamentals of retail operations and customer service excellence.</p> </li><li> <p>Brand advocacy and marketing strategies to drive customer loyalty.</p> </li><li> <p>Visual merchandising techniques to enhance product appeal.</p> </li><li> <p>Teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.</p> </li></ul> <p>Requirements/Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Rising college senior planning or graduate student with expected graduation dates of:</p> </li><li> <p>December 2024 or May 2025</p> </li><li> <p>December 2025 or May 2026</p> </li><li> <p>Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by Belk for this position now or in the future</p> </li><li> <p>Proven strong academic performer (GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Previous retail experience or customer facing experience</p> </li><li> <p>Enthusiastic about representing the Belk brand and engaging with customers.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong interpersonal and communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Positive attitude, creativity, and a willingness to learn.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient in Social Media platforms and MS Office applications</p> </li></ul>
