We strive to balance hard work and high achievement with a fun, supportive environment.</p> <p>Humble Empathetic Accountable Resourceful Tenacious</p> <p>General Purpose</p> <p>The Repossession Specialist is responsible for working with the Asset Liquidation team to provide highly skilled results in the areas of repossession and insurance/payment protection products. They will manage the interactions with third party agencies for recoveries and document results of efforts.</p> <p>Essential Duties/Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Process various insurance policy cancellations, premium adjustments and claims for products to include payment protection, GAP coverage, mechanical breakdown protection, collateral protection (including calculating and adjusting loan payments), private automotive and debt cancellation insurance. </li><li>Serve as a point of contact for insurance/payment protection products. </li><li>Serve as a point of contact for Loss Mitigation team as well as other departments for collateral protection. </li><li>Serve as a point of contact and resource for State National. </li><li>Provide CPI reports to leadership and audit CPI program as needed. </li><li>Assist repossessions team with private insurance claims. </li><li>Assign requests for collateral recovery to third party agencies through Prios, Repros, ALSCO, etc. </li><li>Complete redemption and repossession close-out requests. </li><li>Handle communication with members, co-borrowers, skip-trace companies, auto recovery agencies and other third party agents to recover automobiles, motorcycles and other collateral financed by Canvas. </li><li>Review account and loan documentation for member and co-borrower information. </li><li>May search available government, commercial, social networking and internet databases for new addresses, telephone numbers and employment information. </li><li>Update and maintain proper documentation on accounts that are in the repossession process and document results of efforts. </li><li>Perform necessary follow-up to ensure repossession work is completed timely. </li><li>Process legal notices including 10 day notices and deficiency letters in a timely manner. </li><li>Assist in determining the disposition of repossessed assets. </li><li>Assist in skip tracing and liquidation of collateral process as needed. </li><li>Exhibit support for the organization's goals, values, initiatives and cost control. </li><li>Adhere to Credit Union policies and all relevant regulations in connection with collection activity. </li><li>Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance requests and requirements. </li><li>Follow all safety and security guidelines to properly safeguard member and organization assets. </li><li>Recommend and help develop and implement new policies and procedures. </li><li>Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications. </li><li>Maintain up-to-date and accurate filing system. </li><li>Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job </li><li>Perform other job duties as assigned. </li><li>Pre-employment background review (components include: criminal, employment, address, social security number, motor vehicle record, global sanctions, and sex offender) </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications</p> <p>Knowledge, Skill and Ability:</p> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge in recovery and collection requirements and regulatory compliance. </li><li>Strong understanding of skip trace processes. </li><li>Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain loan terms, features, policies and procedures to members and business partners. </li><li>Strong relationship building and customer service skills. </li><li>Strong attention to detail. </li><li>Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines. </li><li>Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. </li><li>Solid knowledge and understanding of Canvas financial products and services. </li><li>Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). </li><li>Ability to maintain confidences. </li><li>Multi-lingual capabilities to include Spanish are a plus. </li></ul> <p>Education or Formal Training: High school diploma or GED.</p> <p>Experience: Two to five years of collections experience. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. The job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. The position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets.
