<p>The job of Education Specialist - Inclusive Education is done for the purpose of improving special education students' success in the basic academics; relieving teachers of clerical tasks; and assisting students with special health care needs.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher </li><li>Administers tests </li><li>Assists special education students requiring daily care, (e.g. toileting, feeding, etc.) </li><li>Attends Individual Education Program meetings wtih assigned student(s) </li><li>Confers with teachers and/or parents as may be required </li><li>Implements instructional programs and lesson plans, (e.g. reading, math, language, comprehension, writing, computer, etc.) </li><li>Instructs students (individual or small groups), (e.g. reading, spelling, self esteem, behavioral skills, daily living skills, etc.) </li><li>Maintains classroom equipment, work areas, student files/records, (e.g. clean up after various class projects, entering grades, adapting instructional materials, audiovisual equipment, etc.) </li><li>Monitors and assists special education students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments, (e.g. classrooms, rest rooms, hallways, cafeteria, labs, field trips, on/off buses, etc.) </li><li>Participates in in-service workshops and training </li><li>Performs record keeping and clerical functions, (e.g. scheduling, copying, instructional materials, correcting papers, compiling list, etc.) </li><li>Picks up and/or delivers homework/assignments to students at home </li><li>Provides documentation of students' work </li><li>Responds to emergency situations, (e.g. injured students, fights, etc.) </li><li>Assists other personnel as may be required </li><li></li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent </li><li>Pre-employment proficiency test </li><li>Criminal Justice/fingerprint clearance </li><li>Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English </li><li></li></ul> <p>This is a 10 month School Year position only.</p>
