<p>The mission of Southern University and A&M College, an Historically Black, 1890 land-grant institution, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is to provide a student-focused teaching and learning environment that creates global leadership opportunities for a diverse student population where teaching, research, service, scholarly and creative expectations for students and faculty are achieved through the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs offered at the institution via different instructional modalities and via public service.</p> <p>The Communications Officer 2 Acts as the point of contact with the general public for emergency situations, accidents, complaints, etc. at the Southern University Campus. One year of experience in transmitting and receiving messages by radio or in administrative services; OR</p> <p>One year of training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute; OR</p> <p>Thirty semester hours of college training.</p> <p>NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>All persons appointed to this job will be required by the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Louisiana State Police Terminal Operator Certification Program Guidelines to meet the terminal operator certification/re-certification requirement within six months of employment.</p> <p>An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.</p> <p>The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Receive and respond to informational requests from law enforcement officers. </li><li>Receive, analyze, prioritize and respond to general public complaints and inquires with complete independence. Alert the nearest law enforcement office to location and relay the information </li><li>Search, modify and delete computerized records for vehicle registrations, driver's licenses, wanted felonies, missing persons, unidentified persons, stolen property, etc. </li><li>Maintain proper record keeping. </li><li>Monitor Jag Safe App, I-Notification System License Plate Reader and other security cameras. </li><li>Other duties assigned as necessary. </li></ul> <p>Position-Specific Details:</p> <p>Appointment Type: Probational </p> <p>Work Shift: Night Shift (3:00 pm.-7:00 am )</p> <p>Compensation: The starting rate of pay is $17.18 hourly.</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>There is a $2.25 shift differential rate included for the hours worked after 3:00 pm. </li></ul> <p>How To Apply:</p> <p>No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy. </p> <p> </p> <p>To apply for this vacancy, click on the "Apply" link above and complete an electronic application, which can be used for this vacancy as well as future job opportunities.
