The individual must demonstrate excellent communication skills as well as possess extensive diagnostic experience with children throughout the age range.</p> <p>MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>MA or MS with approval from the State of Michigan as a school psychologist. </li><li>Previous school psychologist experience preferred. </li><li>Valid Michigan driver's license. </li><li>Reliable transportation. </li><li>Experience and competency in the administration and interpretation of tests of intelligence, achievement, personality, and perceptual-motor skills for students ages birth through 26. </li><li>Experience and knowledge of the academic and personality development of special education students ages birth through 26. </li><li>Experience in the design and implementation of behavior management plans for home and school settings. </li><li>Ability to communicate psychological findings in oral and written form to parents and staff in a sensitive, clear, and meaningful manner. </li><li>Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff and parents in home and school settings. </li><li>Knowledge of community resources and referral procedures appropriate for families of special education and early on students. </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks, allocate time, and maintain schedule flexibility. </li><li>Knowledge of the workings of a school environment and special education including an understanding of the requirements of IDEIA and Special Education Eligibility Rules from the State of Michigan. </li><li>Ability to work cooperatively in student support team meetings, team evaluations, IEPs and IFSPs. </li><li>Experience in the IEPT process as it relates to children birth to 26. </li><li>Ability to complete and maintain required records, forms, and reports in a professional and timely manner. </li><li>Ability to be flexible, to work independently, and to contribute as a member of a team. </li></ul> <p>MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):</p> <ul> <li>Evaluate children for eligibility for special education services using a variety of appropriate testing instruments. </li><li>Consult with instructional and administrative staff as well as parents to communicate test results, program recommendations, and recommended teaching strategies. </li><li>Serve as a liaison to buildings and districts to communicate referral status. </li><li>Facilitate and/or consult with student support teams as requested. </li><li>Work as a member of a diagnostic team; communicate regularly with team members to plan for students. </li><li>Schedule REEDS, METS, and IEPs in a timely manner; chair IEPs including preparation of paperwork. </li><li>Communicate and coordinate services with special education staff and local agencies. </li><li>Provide parent and staff trainings on a variety of topics. </li><li>Assist in conducting threat assessments and developing safety plans for students. </li><li>Assist in conducting functional behavior assessments and developing behavior intervention plans for students. </li><li>Support the district's SEL initiatives. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the special education director or supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Attachment(s):</p> <ul> <li>School Psychologist - 2025-2026 SY - 07-16-2025.pdf </li></ul>
