Posting Number 2016247T Department Summary</p> <p>The Medical Director applies advanced medical knowledge and clinical judgment to ensure that the Respiratory Therapy Program's curriculum, clinical instruction, and student learning experiences reflect current patient-care standards, regulatory requirements, and safety practices. The role provides authoritative guidance that directly influences the quality of clinical decision-making skills students develop before entering practice. The Medical Director provides medical leadership and oversight to ensure that the program meets the highest standards of patient care, professional practice, and accreditation requirements. The Medical Director serves as a resource for faculty, staff, and students, assuring that the medical content of the curriculum is comprehensive, accurate, and clinically relevant. This position works in close collaboration with the Program Director and Director of Clinical Education to support student success and program excellence.</p> <ul> <li>Provides ongoing professional medical judgment to validate the clinical accuracy and patient-care relevance of clinical instruction. </li><li>Reviews and approves curriculum content to ensure direct alignment with current standards of medical practice, patient-safety requirements, and quality-of-care expectations. </li><li>Monitors and advises on clinical performance-related student outcomes, collaborating with faculty to address identified risks or competency gaps. </li><li>Guides program policies impacting clinical safety, scope of practice, emergency protocols, and clinical decision-making in patient-care environments. </li><li>Participates in program advisory committee meetings and contribute to ongoing program evaluation and improvement. </li><li>Supports compliance with the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) Standards. </li><li>Serves as a professional role model for faculty and students, demonstrating ethical standards and clinical excellence. </li><li>Advises on policies and procedures related to clinical practice, patient safety, and quality of care. </li><li>Promotes collaboration with local healthcare providers and clinical affiliates. </li></ul> <p>This is a stipend-based role under the learned professional and physician exemption criteria. Compensation is provided as an annual stipend of $10,000 in recognition of professional medical services requiring licensure, advanced medical judgment, and responsibility for clinical oversight. The stipend is not tied to hours worked.</p> <p>Position Profile</p> <p>Oversees and implements University academic programming and policy approval process. Reviews and analyzes existing programs to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies and regulations. Administers and evaluates the effectiveness of program achievements. Coordinates curriculum development, faculty affairs, and accreditation processes. May oversee core program components, curricula and/or instruction.</p> <p>Level Summary</p> <p>Regularly serves as a technical leader, expert, or program manager for complex functions or initiatives that require deep subject-matter knowledge. Significantly impacts the department by directly contributing to its performance and success.</p> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities</p> <p>Provides leadership to projects or initiatives. Influences decision-making.</p> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Work is performed in office, classroom, and clinical environments. Duties include prolonged periods of reading, writing, and computer use while reviewing policies and instructional materials. Teaching and lab activities may require standing, walking, and assisting students with hands-on skills. Work may involve exposure to clinical or healthcare environments and requires adherence to established safety protocols.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Applicants must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and a current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio.
