<p>Job Description:</p> <p>DESCRIPTION</p> <p>This is a Limited Part Time and grant-funded position. The Instructor will instruct students according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge based on the MA DESE ABE/ESOL curriculum standards. The instructor must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. The instructor will teach 10-15 hours/week of classroom instruction. The teacher is responsible for establishing a positive and welcoming classroom environment, where all students have the ability to learn.</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Provide high quality instruction that supports and aligns to the State of Massachusetts educational vision and mission. </li><li>Responsible for teaching ESOL or HiSET classes using instructional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting. An ideal candidate would be flexible and able to switch gears to teach toward different skill levels, subject matter, and student ability. </li><li>Facilitate an environment that fosters the learning of all students. </li><li>Utilize educational technology to support student's instruction and learning. </li><li>Develop and deliver daily lesson plans utilizing a broad range of appropriate differentiated techniques and strategies to ensure learners meet or exceed earning targets. </li><li>Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, peers, and community. </li><li>Follow policies and procedures outlined by the VP of Workforce, Economic and Institutional Development. </li><li>To work cooperatively with other teaching and support staff. </li><li>Participate in mandatory training/coursework, as assigned, including but not limited to: </li></ul> <p>Title IX and Sexual Misconduct</p> <p>Sexual Harassment and Non-Discrimination</p> <p>Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting</p> <p>FERPA</p> <p>Municipal Ethics Laws</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Requirements: A minimum of one year to two years of teaching experience, knowledge of HISET or ESOL program, willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team, and a proven ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for students from diverse backgrounds are all requirements of this position. Experience working with non-traditional students is strongly preferred. The incumbent will also display:</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as other office software applications </li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines </li><li>Ability to collaborate and build working relationships with faculty and staff </li><li>Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills </li><li>Strong commitment to the delivery of student-centered academic advising </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in education </li><li>Demonstrated interest/experience in working with adult students. </li><li>Ability to foster an effective learning environment for multiple age and skill levels. </li><li>Ability to implement multiple teaching methods, styles, and materials. </li><li>To work cooperatively with other teaching and support staff </li><li>Knowledge of adult learner characteristics </li><li>Basic computer skills </li><li>Strong communication and organizational skills </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Previous teaching experience in the ABE/ESOL programs, preferred. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>Quincy College is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing an environment that is free from discrimination and harassment based on race, age, creed, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, gender, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or pregnancy.
