Accompanying letters of recommendation are encouraged but not strictly required.</p> <p>The Stanton Lab in the Center for Genomics Medicine (CGM) and Department of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and skilled scientist to be the driver of our effort to leverage advanced bioengineered organoid models for gaining new insights into mechanisms underlying ALS, translatable to effective preventative and therapeutic interventions. The scientist will build on and further develop close collaborations with world-leading experts in ALS and genetics within the Department of Neurology and CGM and technology of the Stanton Lab (www.stantonlab.info).</p> <p>Core areas of focus will include translating genetics and human biology observations from patient samples to effective preclinical in vitro models and in vivo mouse models to understand multicellular mechanisms in ALS, modeling functional consequences of therapeutic interventions, and performing and leveraging multiomics analyses to identify enhanced therapeutics approaches. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative research environment that includes neuroscientists, geneticists, bioengineers, computational biologists, and physician-scientists at the CGM and Department of Neurology, as well as at other leading academic institutions and biopharmaceutical companies.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biology, Immunology, Bioengineering, or related field with deep expertise in molecular and cellular biology techniques</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong research experience in neurodegenerative disease biology (preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Strong research experience in human iPSC technology and targeted genome editing in vitro (preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Strong research experience in microglia/macrophage biology (preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of experimental design</p> </li><li> <p>Statistical and quantitative analysis skills</p> </li><li> <p>Basic bioinformatics skills (preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Self-motivated and highly dedicated</p> </li><li> <p>Effective organizational and prioritization skills</p> </li><li> <p>Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment</p> </li><li> <p>Strong research experience in high-throughput technologies (e.g., NGS and CyTOF) for bulk and single-cell transcriptomics, epigenomics, lipidomics and/or proteomics (preferred)</p> </li></ul> <p>or</p> <ul> <li>Strong research experience in functional genomics (e.g., siRNA, shRNA, CRISPR/Cas9, and chemogenomic) screens (preferred) </li></ul> <p>or</p> <ul> <li>Strong research experience in biomaterials or 3D organoid systems (preferred) </li></ul> <p>or</p> <ul> <li>Strong research experience in mouse microglia/macrophage biology in vivo (preferred) </li></ul> <p>For specific inquiries, please email aestanton@mgh.harvard.edu with the subject header "Research Position Inquiry: Research Fellow in Functional Genomics."
