As we continue to accelerate our progress, we're seeking educators who are committed, reflective, and ready to collaborate in a learning-focused, student-centered environment.</p> <p>If you're ready to make a meaningful difference and grow as part of a dedicated team, consider building your career with Southbridge Public Schools.</p> <p>More information about the district's turnaround efforts can be found here.</p> <p>ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:</p> <p>The Supervisor of Special Education is directly under the supervision of the Director of Special Education in consultation with the Principals and Assistant Principals. He/she will be responsible for serving as the Evaluation Team meetings at Southbridge Public Schools, instructional leader for specially designed instruction and conducting staff educational evaluations as assigned.</p> <p>PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide on-going, regularly scheduled consultation, coaching, and feedback to special education personnel in the district. </li><li>Daily, visit special and regular education classrooms to observe effectiveness of the instructional program; (a). Determine whether instruction corresponds to goals and objectives of the student's individualized education program (IEP) and the state curriculum standards; (b). Determine if materials, equipment and other support are available and are adequately and properly used; (c). Consult with teachers to provide technical assistance for improvement of instructional skills and behavior management. </li><li>Daily, consult with teaching staff to assure that specific needs of the student are met. </li><li>Develop robust instructional support using data indicators from outside sources, staff feedback and analysis of student outcomes. </li><li>Act as evaluator for special education teachers as assigned by the Director of Special Education to support Building Principals in the Educator Evaluation process and to effect excellence in teaching and specialized instruction. </li><li>Provide Individual Education Program team meetings; </li><li>Schedule meetings and provide written notice to assure compliance with special education regulations; </li><li>Record meeting minutes and complete all relevant special education paperwork at Evaluation Team and Individual Education Program team meetings; </li><li>Chair Evaluation Team meetings and lead the team in all relevant eligibility and evaluation decisions; </li><li>Assure that any student receiving or entitled to receive special education instruction under IDEA receives a full and comprehensive evaluation; </li><li>Ensure the involvement of parents in the special education process and provide basic explanations of parental rights and procedural safeguards and responsibilities under IDEA; </li><li>Interpret special education eligibility reports from a variety of service providers and out of district evaluators; </li><li>Ensure that the Evaluation Team follows procedural safeguards at all stages of the special education process; </li><li>Attend special education parent advisory meetings; </li><li>Maintain student records and protect their confidentiality; </li><li>Collect data for regulatory compliance reports and analyze data to inform instruction and support school and district decision-making; </li><li>Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Director of Pupil Personnel. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>Licensure by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as an Educational Administrator in Special Education, Special Education Supervisor, Pupil Personnel Services, or Principal/Assistant Principal (PreK-6). </li><li>Master's Degree or higher in the fields of Education, Leadership or Education Administration </li><li>Training and experience in the use of the DESE Educator Evaluation Tool and process preferred </li><li>Training, knowledge, experience and full understanding of the special education evaluation process; </li><li>Knowledge of district wide continuum of services; </li><li>Ability to analyze and present special education evaluations and reports; </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal special education laws, regulations, and eligibility criteria and willingness to implement the special education process; </li><li>Deep knowledge of Individualized Education Programs </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills; be able to collaborate with district educators. </li><li>Capability of prioritizing needs and responding professionally and efficiently to a variety of requests from families, staff, and administration; </li><li>Ability to effectively handle issues utilizing a problem-solving approach in a team-based environment. </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Southbridge Public Schools is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin, sex, gender identity, disability, religion, age, or sexual orientation.</p>
