We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team. This role supports payroll processing and ensures compliance, accuracy, and confidentiality in all aspects of payroll operations.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Payroll Clerk ensures the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll by compiling data, maintaining documentation, reconciling discrepancies, and responding to inquiries. This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance with applicable laws, contracts, and internal procedures.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Audit Support:</p> <ul> <li>Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting payroll documentation and explanations of procedures. </li></ul> <p>Payroll Processing:</p> <ul> <li>Compile payroll data including time sheets, tax withholdings, and salary adjustments. </li><li>Process a variety of payroll documents such as garnishments, COBRA contributions, and retirement plan updates. </li><li>Support accurate and timely payroll distribution. </li></ul> <p>Discrepancy Resolution:</p> <ul> <li>Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies related to timekeeping, benefits, and employee contributions. </li></ul> <p>Record Maintenance:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain payroll records including tax returns, insurance forms, W-2s, stop payments, and other essential documents. </li></ul> <p>Compliance and Reporting:</p> <ul> <li>Reconcile payroll account balances and prepare required reports for government agencies (e.g., Missouri Department of Labor, Workers' Compensation). </li><li>Ensure compliance with labor contracts, state/federal laws, and district policies. </li></ul> <p>Communication and Support:</p> <ul> <li>Respond to inquiries from staff and external agencies about payroll procedures. </li><li>Provide procedural guidance and assistance to departments and employees. </li><li>Participate in staff meetings, training, and workshops. </li></ul> <p>Team Collaboration:</p> <ul> <li>Work with the Payroll Administrator to complete payroll operations. </li><li>Coordinate payroll processing activities with other departments. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Perform additional related tasks as needed to ensure efficient payroll operations. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent (required) </li><li>Coursework or training in accounting, business, or payroll systems preferred </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Job-related experience required </li><li>Previous payroll experience with software applications preferred </li></ul> <p>Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records </li><li>Proficient in using payroll software and Microsoft Office </li><li>Strong attention to detail and organizational skills </li></ul> <p>Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Basic accounting and payroll principles </li><li>Knowledge of relevant labor contracts and state/federal payroll laws </li><li>Familiarity with payroll taxes and insurance reporting </li></ul> <p>Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Handle confidential information with integrity </li><li>Communicate effectively with diverse groups </li><li>Meet deadlines and manage competing priorities </li><li>Analyze data and resolve discrepancies with accuracy </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <p>FHSD offers a comprehensive employer-paid benefits package, including:</p> <ul> <li>Medical and dental plan options </li><li>Vision coverage </li><li>Employee Assistance Program (EAP) </li><li>District-paid basic life insurance ($75,000) </li><li>District-paid Short-Term Disability </li><li>Paid holidays and vacation </li><li>Family coverage, long-term disability, and additional life insurance options available at employee's expense </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Frequent sitting with occasional walking and standing </li><li>Some lifting, carrying, and fine finger dexterity may be required </li></ul> <p>We look forward to receiving your application and potentially welcoming you to the FHSD team!</p>
