When not assigned to a bus route, the Utility Driver will perform other duties as assigned by the Fleet Services Supervisor.</p> <p>Parking location is 820 Commonwealth Avenue</p> <p>Grade 8 of the ESP Salary Scale $21.60- $39.08 per hour</p> <p>Approximately 6 Hours/Day, 10-Month Work Year (Some assignments may require additional work hours beyond 6 hours)</p> <p>Reports to Supervisor of Transportation</p> <p>Employee Benefits Summary</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <p>High School Diploma/GED.</p> <p>Meet all licensing requirements of the Motor Vehicle Administration for Commercial Driver's License (CDL).</p> <p>Meet all the requirements of COMAR l3A.06.07 (PUPIL TRANSPORTATION) for School Bus Driver.</p> <p>Have not more than two current points on the driving record, and have a satisfactory past driving record.</p> <p>Successfully completed the Maryland State Department of Education required pre-service instruction.</p> <p>Have no evidence of a criminal record which makes the individual unfit for employment as a school bus driver.</p> <p>Must be 21 years of age to operate a school bus.</p> <p>Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.</p> <p>Satisfactorily completes the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Administration physical examination for school bus drivers.</p> <p>Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Demonstrate an aptitude and competence for the position of School Bus Driver.</p> <p>Provide acceptable references as to one's ability to work with and supervise children.</p> <p>Role Responsibilities</p> <p>Report to bus lot on Commonwealth Avenue each day, both morning and afternoon.</p> <p>Shuttle spare buses to breakdowns and accidents.</p> <p>Be assigned a spare bus for pre-trip inspection each day.</p> <p>Clean assigned spare bus on regular basis, and prepares spare bus for three annual bus inspections.</p> <p>Assist in cleaning and fueling spare school buses.</p> <p>Assist in cleaning and fueling pool cars.</p> <p>Assist in cleaning wash bays and fueling area.</p> <p>Drive as a substitute driver on open routes as assigned by Supervisors or Dispatcher.</p> <p>Perform a pre-trip inspection prior to each route, checking for mechanical defects.</p> <p>Perform a post-trip inspection following each route, checking for damage, students and belongings.</p> <p>Notify the Transportation Department in case of mechanical failure or lateness.</p> <p>Operate the bus within the guidelines as outlined in the WCPS School Bus Drivers Handbook.</p> <p>Proper uses of all safety equipment including use of driver's seat belt and shoulder harness.</p> <p>Keep to assigned schedule.</p> <p>Obey all traffic laws.</p> <p>Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.</p> <p>Responsible for pupil accountability.</p> <p>Enforce rules and regulations for students riding the bus.</p> <p>Maintain discipline when students are on bus.</p> <p>Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.</p> <p>Transport only authorized students.</p> <p>Discharge students only at authorized stops.</p> <p>Exercise responsible leadership when on school trips.</p> <p>Report all accidents immediately and completes required reports.</p> <p>Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.</p> <p>Perform other school bus related duties as may be assigned.</p> <p>Environmental Factors and Physical/Mental Requirements</p> <p>The Environmental Factors and Physical/Mental demands represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Required periods of sitting and driving.</p> <p>Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with others as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, and hear.</p> <p>Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.</p> <p>Ability to move, raise, lower, and carry objects up to 20lbs on an regular basis and over 20lbs on an irregular basis.</p> <p>Must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, reach, and climb stairs.</p> <p>Will be subjected to loud noises, dusts, fumes, hot and cold outdoor temperatures and related weather conditions.</p>
