<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Thoreau Elementary School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and dynamic General Music Teacher to join our vibrant school community. This full-time position involves teaching general music to students in grades K-5, integrating singing, movement, instrumental play, and music literacy. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in music education, cultural responsiveness, and social-emotional learning, and is enthusiastic about contributing to a collaborative and creative school environment.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Current and valid MA DESE teaching license in Music (All Levels)</p> <p>Strong grounding in multicultural music education and culturally responsive teaching practices</p> <p>Experience with thematic and integrated curriculum development across disciplines</p> <p>Commitment to supporting the social-emotional development of students through music</p> <p>Excellent accompaniment skills on piano or guitar</p> <p>Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills</p> <p>Ability to foster a joyful and inclusive learning environment</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Design and deliver a comprehensive general music curriculum aligned with state and district standards</p> <p>Plan and implement instruction that develops students' skills in singing, rhythm, movement, listening, improvisation, and instrumental performance, including recorder and percussion instruments</p> <p>Encourage creative expression through music, movement, and drama</p> <p>Foster a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom culture that celebrates student voice and identity</p> <p>Regularly assess student learning and provide timely feedback through progress reports and parent communication</p> <p>Collaborate with classroom teachers on interdisciplinary projects that integrate music with other areas of learning</p> <p>Partner with the district's K-12 music staff to align program goals and ensure continuity in the music curriculum</p> <p>Direct the school chorus, including planning rehearsals and leading performances during and beyond the school day</p> <p>Participate actively in school events, staff meetings, and district professional development opportunities</p> <p>Maintain open, respectful communication with students, families, and colleagues</p> <p>Support the mission and values of Thoreau Elementary and the Concord Public Schools</p> <p>All other duties as assigned by the building Principal</p> <p>Our School Community:</p> <p>Thoreau Elementary is a vibrant and inclusive learning community where students are nurtured academically, socially, and emotionally.
